Public schools should have free, healthy lunches for all students.  End of discussion.  If you want kids to learn, proper nutrition is a huge factor in that ability.

I'm all for 'free lunch' for poors, but the kids should be made to wear orange jumpsuits and perform menial janitorial duties to even it out. It has the bonus of getting them prepared for life after school as well. Maybe they can be assigned to a 'normal' kid and carry around their books and stuff. Just spit-balling here. Oh, don't forget to vote for me for school board chair on the 8th!

Being poor is a moral failing. You should be ashamed and identified for being so lazy. One tool in identifying the proper children for ostracizing and bullying is to make sure only poors are entitled to free school lunch, that way the other kids knows who to bully, and more importantly, who they are better than.

This is America.

If kids are above the poverty threshold but having problems paying, raise the threshold and fund that.

Also get rid of central kitchens with processed prison food. Fund that.

But just a blanket free lunch to pay for the current standard doesn't make much sense (unless you own stock in the central kitchens).

2022-10-26 10:23:09 AM
There's no reason not to give every child a school lunch and EVERY REASON EVER to give them a school lunch AT NO CHARGE.

Why? Because it's a National Security and Military Readiness issue AND it increases their capacity for learning.

/ When they learn more...they produce more and they might actually become productive citizens that pay more tax that keeps the whole thing going.

Uh-huh.

They don't need it.

Just ask the uneducated.

Just ask the employed.

Just ask the insured.

Ask the Republicans.

The children don't need education, healthcare, future gainful, meaningful, challenging employment.

They don't need lunch.

Breakfast.

A balanced meal.

They don't need to see that it's free for every student - so the stigma is alleviated.

They sure as shiat don't need to see, to realize, that a country that can afford 11 nuclear aircraft carrier task forces could afford to feed its children--that that country just refuses to.

The wealthy refuse to.

Why?

Because they don't need it.

Go ahead and ask the Republicans about anything that benefits someone other than themselves.

Only grudgingly, and only if they knew their place.

21 Jesus went from there to the area of Tyre and Sidon.
22 A Canaanite woman from that area came out and began shouting, "Lord, Son of David, please help me! My daughter has a demon inside her, and she is suffering very much."
23 But Jesus did not answer her. So the followers came to him and said, "Tell her to go away. She keeps crying out and will not leave us alone."
24 Jesus answered, "God sent me only to the lost people of Israel."
25 Then the woman came over to Jesus and bowed before him. She said, "Lord, help me!"
26 He answered her with this saying: "It is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs."
27 The woman said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the pieces of food that fall from their master's table."
28 Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! You will get what you asked for." And right then the woman's daughter was healed.

I've got an even better idea.  School is about learning, not being lazy and taking breaks all of the time.  Take out the lunch period and add a new class in that time slot from noon - 1PM.  There are a lot of overweight people who don't know how to eat right, so I think it would be a good idea to have a nutrition education class.  Everyone can learn at the same time, so for this class they should put long tables in a big room and sit the kids down together.  Then, they can put examples of what a healthy meal looks like in front of the children.  Of course the best learning is hands on, so the children can then sample the foods and practice what it looks like when you consume a balanced meal containing protein, fruits, and vegetables.  The class would need a clever name, something like Learning to Understand Nutrition Choices that are Healthy.

Seriously though, if all the kids had to eat the same lunch then quality would go up because suddenly it would be important to have healthy appetizing food when the school lunch wasn't just the shiat you feed to poor people.

I don't see how making kids pay for school lunches makes any sense. Kids generally don't have jobs so in reality the school is getting paid by the parents whose taxes already fund the school. It's a nonsensical structure for getting school funding. Kids are required to go to school all day so feeding them as part of that seems like common sense.

I gotta say, this guy is refreshingly honest.  Libertarians are usually bemoaning the middle class giving money to the undeserving, but this guy just comes out and says "Nope, it's just the wealthy that suffer when the poor do better."
