Prediction: Twitter will be a racist hell-hole by christmas.

I'm willing to bet he plans to fire all the people creating, monitoring and enforcing TOS violations and he plans to make it a 4-chan style free speech paradise that will end up working just as well.

Well, Elon loves his facists so much, let the Rs get back in power, immediately strip Section 230 protections because they are one-track minded, and WATCH tha lawsuits roooolllllll in.

It's amazing to me how often money just gets set on fire.  Here we've got millions of people who bid up Tesla shares beyond any reasonable valuation because they liked the personality of its CEO, having that money being used to buy shares of Twitter which has never made any money in its 16 years of existence.

There will be a cutout for companies that Republicans like. Like in Florida, where their social media law had a waiver for any company that owned a theme park in the state (yes, really). Of course, that was before Disney had the gall to side with its own employees over a different Florida law...

Hilariously, Florida has revealed their plan for how to dissolve Reedy Creek and handle its bond obligations.  It's to create a new entity with all the powers of Reedy Creek, assign that to Disney, and transfer all the bonds to that entity.

Essentially, it was a show for DeSantis' presidential aspirations.

There are already about 10 "free speech" versions of Twitter that nobody uses so Elon's genius plan is to turn Twitter into one of them.  Good.

At that point he might end up being force to sell more Tesla stock which results in him losing control of the company.

"Laid off? Sure, fine with me, I just helped bring a major company with name recognition worldwide (for better or worse) to the point it was acquired and sold my shares to the acquiring entity. Let's take a look at the severance... nothing, ok, take this one-sided nondisclosure and no solicit paperwork and shove it up your MuskHole-I'm OUT!"

The only thing more powerful than real stuff is media.

If your only goal is to burn the planet to the ground the second after your die, and leave zero legacy, being a media giant is the way to go. I can see a narcissist like him deciding his kid [AEzertblink-182] isn't worth much more than anyone else in his family, getting buttmad, and throwing it all away to become the new Murdock of the Internet.

This timeline is so farked-up, it defies traditional logic. Predictions are useless.

Is it money or is it "money" that exists only in perceived value? Seems like a lot of these people like Elon are billionaires on paper, but are not liquid enough to buy a house because all their wealth is in the market that requires them to sell, which they never do because then that causes the market to panic and their value drops.

When they continually consider all of these companies worth billions and produce nothing, I do not believe any of these people are billionaires or that these companies are worth more than a few dollars.

It's just how the wealthy prop up other wealthy.

No, the money is real.  The reason a share of Tesla is what it is, is because someone paid that price.  Somebody bought that share.  If you own a share of Tesla you can sell it right now and get that price.  That's real money.

Tesla functioned like a meme stock.  Millions of bored young people got stimmy checks and were stuck at home with RobinHood telling them to buy buy buy.  NFTs, meme stocks, cryptocurrencies - these were all transfers of wealth from the not wealthy to the wealthy.

That's just silly overreaction - Elon is a douche and Tesla is massively overvalued, but Tesla *did* make $5.5B of profit on $53B of revenue last year.  That's worth "more than a few dollars".

To be fair, until you sell it, it's not real money. Elon doesn't actually have however much money... most of it is stock. Were he to try and sell too large a quantity the price would drop precipitously. This is similar to how real estate works. Yes, I have a couple chunks of "million dollar" land that I would be lucky to get US$250k if it was sold... before the most recent inflationary mess.

Rapmaster2000: Tesla functioned like a meme stock.  Millions of bored young people got stimmy checks and were stuck at home with RobinHood telling them to buy buy buy.  NFTs, meme stocks, cryptocurrencies - these were all transfers of wealth from the not wealthy to the wealthy.

Which is why most of them are not real money, as the "free money" is running out. When the bored young people have real bills and can't afford to prop up meme stocks and cryptocurrencies, what happens next?

Twitter makes money it posted a 150 million profit last year. It also spent 1.5 billion in revenue just keeping the company running.  It won't be able to cover the loans interest payments.

Most of Twitter is a cesspit, but there are lots of very good things on Twitter.  I've found it extremely useful for finding and following authors, artists, scientists, and technologists.

I don't expect that to last if Elon has his way with Twitter, so I preemptively went through all of the accounts I follow, to find alternative ways to follow everyone I care about.
