Wow. The Prime Minister has a US Green card and has exploited international rules to avoid paying UK taxes while hiking taxes on others, and he's the first sitting finance minister to be criminally sanctioned.

Seriously UK, this is the best you've got? At this point you'd be better off appointing Michael Palin.

/I'm not joking - I honestly think Palin would be a better choice

The reason is was criminally sanctioned:

FTA:" Along with Boris Johnson, Sunak was fined for breaking lockdown rules during the Downing Street "partygate" scandal that appalled a British public who, in some cases, had missed out on their loved ones' final hours in order to diligently obey the government's pandemic rules."

GB is still punishing rule breakers, so there is hope in that.

In America, he would be hailed as a Conservative hero: a Minuteman standing eyeball-to-eyeball against a battalion of Red Coats.

U wot m8? England is the land of the "Glorious Revolution," one where a change of monarch is a bloodless, civil affair. Not at all like those heathens on the Continent. There hasn't been a civil war in England since the 1600s.

I guess if you talk about the UK as a whole, there's been more unrest. But that has far more to do with Catholic vs Protestant and Scotland vs England than plutocracy.

Part of it is the law. Give people a chance to stand in line and see she is dead. Habeas Corpus is really, really important when the corpus is the wearer of the Crown. If I was Charles, I woulda gone a whole month to ensure that no conspiracy theorists could fark with the Crown's legitimacy because every gradeschooler got a field trip and a royal poking stick to prove to themselves that the rites of succession were legitimate. The last thing we need is QAnon bullshiat.

There've been riots-a-plenty and you seem to have elided the history of British socialism, forest law )I mean are you freaking serious about forest law???), the rebelions against the Black Acts, and many other movements that were absolutely violent rebellion and not what you've talking about.

They're comparing wealth using his wealth as Prince of Wales.

When his mom died, his personal wealth went up. It went up by a lot. A really hugely spectacular amount.

For god's sake, the man owns every single Swan in the United Kingdom! That's got to be worth half a billion at least.

Conservatives love to elect rich people because they think if rich people lead, eventually they will have "enough" money and the rest of us will get our shot. They actually believe that. No one with a billion+ dollars A) Worked hard for it, or B) didn't step on a lot of people on their way to get it.

Gilliam's still revealed himself to be a douche in his own ways, too, though:

After two decades of trying, the director and former Monty Python member has finally managed to make 'The Man Who Killed Don Quixote'. But he'd rather talk to Alexandra Pollard about #MeToo, the trials of being a white man, and why he's decided to become a 'black lesbian in transition'
