Thread over in the headline?

Jones made a mockery of the trial and didn't show up for much of it. It seems VERY unlikely he can get a new one. The judge in the previous trial was very careful not to sink to his level to be sure there would be no mistrial even though Jones put on a clown show.

Perhaps Jones is finally realizing how good and truly farked he is? I hope so.

Pretty sure if you agree to dissolve InfoWars, have yourself surgically muted, and agree to never make a public statement or access the Internet again, the plaintiffs might consider dropping a few mil out of their judgement.

I hope that somewhere on his cellphone records, that his idiot lawyer turned over, is a discussion of how to use homestead designation to hide your wealth from creditors. I think that could provide a fraud exception to him doing so and result in him having to forfeit that sequestered wealth.

No it decidedly isn't over in the headline.

The headline omitted the key phrase "and go fark yourself."

Or is Alex Jones being extra salty?

I'm sure a bonding company can help Alex make his dream come true.  Put up a billion plus another billion should get him a new trial.  Alex does understand money.  He believes no one else does.  I don't see him doing double or nothing.

Irony being, if this does go to bankruptcy very likely the plaintiffs will get the information he tried to hide anyway.

They deserve compensation anyway, just for being jurors in an Alex Jones trial.

FTFA: The verdicts came after another jury in Texas in August ordered Jones and his company to pay nearly $50 million in damages to the parents of another slain Sandy Hook child. A third trial over the hoax claims, involving two more Sandy Hook parents, is expected to be held near the end of the year in Texas.

In a way, he is getting another trial.

He was given the opportunity to present his own evidence. He choose not too.
Now he gets to live with the logical consequences of that choice.

An appeal doesn't let you introduce a bunch of additional "evidence", and there is no grounds for a complete "do-over" simply because you didn't like the results.

As long it is done lawfully a debtor can absolutely do this with zero negative effect.  Him discussing how to lawfully do it should be a conversation he's had by now. If they decide to unlawfully hide debt then yeah he'll have a rough ride with the court system. Each state lays out laws on what it protected from lien/seizure and there are federal laws as well.

I bought and sold property in 3 states and live my life within the confines of those laws to avoid financial exposure to my own judgment creditor. There are even attorneys who specialize in helping clients become judgment-proof. It's not as easy as "you owe me money, pay up". It's a LOT of work on the creditors behalf.  If Alex put things in motion to protect himself he very well could be fine and never pay a dime.

Knowing it's Alex he didn't do it at all or did it illegally and it's all going to come out in the wash.

Yesterday Knowledge Fight did a breakdown of another employee deposition, this time of writer Adan Salazar.  Dude was hired effectively off the street and immediately given the freedom to write whatever the fark he wanted, with ZERO training or oversight in even basic publishing guidelines.  And just like every other deposition, they were woefully unprepared for everything legal-related.

/He also kind of gave the game away and admitted they selected stories based on how it would help defend their pro-gun positions.

That's not how civil trials work.  You can't just not pay.  Otherwise, why would anyone pay?  I mean, you can drag your feet, but sooner or later, they'll get it.  They sure as hell won't get all of it.  Even if they seized his entire empire (which they likely will), it's not a billion dollar empire.  But he'll have basically nothing left and he'll be like OJ... any future earnings will be taken.

I just love how guys like Jones, Bannon, Stone, and TFG think they're in charge and rules and laws don't apply to them. But, one could argue, they're right, because they just keep getting away with shiat. Or, at least, they are allowed to keep delaying everything.

What a friggin joke.

The thing about an appeal.  you need to prove you can win to the appeals court. or show malfeasance on the part of the judge, or jury. Or some bad interpretation of the law or penalties during sentancing

blatantly ignoring the judicial system so badly that you had a default judgment against you isn't going to help.

These kinds of motions are a standard part of the legal process. They usually go nowhere. You'd have to have grounds for a new trial that are much more compelling than, "I didn't like the way the last one turned out."

Did you see the amateurish attempt he made at making shell companies to shield/hide his income?

If he's attempting to go the sleazy route with homestead, like you did, I'll bet he had the same level of professional advice.

In this case, the lawyers for the victims already got permission to turn the phone records over to law enforcement.

So, it's a little different than hope v. shiat.

Pattis, Jones' lawyer, wrote

Yup, he's not getting out of this, then.

You can maybe swing a retrial of a civil case on these kinds of grounds if you were farked over by representing yourself or otherwise had dramatically, unarguably deficient legal council.  If he had lawyers, and they're still lawyers and not suspended or disbarred... nope, that means he was fully advised of what ignoring the court's directions would do, and consciously made an informed choice to do so anyhow.

I mean... I know the actual reason he's trying to do this is as a delaying action, because he is hilariously incompetent on about the average level that literally every right-winger from Trump to your shiatty grandma is debilitatingly stupid, and he was 100% convinced he'd totally successfully laundered the money by moving it to another shell company because he's an idiot, but is now discovering that's not actually the case due to all of the bankruptcy people for all of the shell corporations immediately talking to each other the moment the verdict dropped like anyone half-competent running a company could tell you they were legally required to do.

The only mystery left for how this shiat is gonna end for Jones, probably relatively soon, is whether his shiatbird parents who helped with the hilariously-incompetent money-laundering attempt are also going to end up on the street and hopefully dead in a gutter too.

// If you have had the good judgement not to be keeping track of this bullshiat, Jones' primary attempt at money laundering involved his parents forming a corporation (or him forming one for them and personally controlling it illegally) which "contracted" with one of his money-holding companies and was "paid for services" on the order of like a fifth of a billion dollars.  Literally, just two old people incorporated as an entity with no actual listed purpose, randomly paid money with no description of what service was being provided sufficient to verify the transaction was actually a transaction.  I have met actual ten-year-olds better at farking white-collar crime than that as a school teacher.

Pretty sure a request for a new trial is going to be denied since the cause of the verdict was his inability to follow the rules in the first place.
