This is the town I was born in. Old family, with a major street named after them. They know enough to keep their secrets buried.

Can you really vote for someone who can't even maintain a civil relationship with their own sibling?

Both sides are bad.

This was my hometown, 15 minutes from where I live now, and I had no idea.

If you don't feel comfortable discussing politics at a family reunion, then your family farking sucks and you should stop going to reunions.

Man, I cannot imagine being a dick enough to make my brother hate me like that.

I think somehow, both of them may be pricks.

Dude, it is the law of numbers. The greater the number attending, the exponential chance of a turd  in the punch bowl.

I don't know if your family is perfect, but mine has alcoholics, schizophrenics, drug addicts, narcissists, sociopaths... whenever my mom says she wants a reunion I sigh, take a drink, and suck it up.

Right wingers, sheeeit, they are easy, it is the cousin sawing off your catalytic converter you have to watch.

Changing the town name to Oasis is also on the ballot.

See option B: Don't go.

Why miss an otherwise fun chance to reconnect with people just because your cousin married some asshat on the NYPD? He's the one who sucks.

See option A: Go, get hammered, talk politics to piss him off

Odds are favorable that Darp and Dsider in this thread know each other and may not realize it. Happy trails, gentlemen.

I didn't see Dsider's post before reading yours, and I thought for sure you meant the sawing off the catalytic converter so I could quip that's so Po Co.

I grew up on Janet Street beside the old pool and later Sugarloaf and Catharine Streets. Small world.

My grandparents lived on Barrick Road. I grew up in Stevensville and got out early. Cheers!

If you have to keep in good standing with the family because Grandpa or Grandma has promised you a significant post death windfall in their will, the choice of whether or not to go to these reunions and suck it up can become a real moral dilemma.
