O'Brien always struck me as a nice guy. I also imagine after being treated like shiat by NBC, he knows how to properly deal with people just trying to do their jobs.

For you youngins who don't get the headline, its a reference to Ferris Beuller when he is at the restaurant being rude to the host.

As for Conan, I find it better he would fire someone who was rude to wait staff in front of their boss as it shows a lot about their character, I'm sure and I would guess there was more to it than some fluff article states.

The headline, despite recognizing the quote, is a mess.  But I'm not sure where the article is confusing.  It's pretty straight-forward and simple.

- Corden recently made headlines for being a dick to waitstaff and got banned from the restaurant.

- A former Conan staffer made a dig at Corden by tweeting that Conan once fired a staffer for such shiatty behavior.

- Corden apologized to restaurant owner and ban was rescinded.

You can tell a lot about a person, based on how they treat people in customer service jobs.

Some great advice I heard once, "never date someone who's rude to a waiter or waitress."  It's never steered me wrong.

I understood the headline. If someone told a waiter that "it's understanding that makes it possible for people like us to tolerate a person like yourself" I'd be pretty pissed about it.

Yes but there's almost no transition to the Conan story nor is there any real correlation aside from "late night hosts in restaurants." It's just a non-sequitur anecdote from someone's tweet that's just dropped in the middle of a story.

The only people allowed to treat everyone else as worthless are those who graduated from Illinois State University. That's from observing the two ISU grads I worked for.
One was always certain he was the smartest person in the room.
The other was always certain he was the only smart person in the room.

I've always liked Conan.... I don't recall if it was Leno or Letterman he took over for, back in the 90's, but i was prepared to not like him.... He sold me, the first episode... This is a funny guy with quick wit, and likable.

I'm saddened, but not surprised. ISU is not the first choice of many students unless you're getting into teaching, so they get a lot (and I mean A LOT) of the people who wanted to go to U of I but didn't have the grades or financials to get in. So they might have had the smarts but not the grades/money and so have an inferiority complex which they express in unfortunate ways.

I was trolling.  I've never received as many negative comments over discussing the late night wars of ~2010 as any other subject on Fark since I joined some 22 years ago.
