Doesn't stop the farking idiots from showing up at school board meetings and shrieking like psychopaths for hours on end.

When has that ever stopped Republicans from violently opposing something they have no idea about?

CRT is only taught in courses in post graduate law schools, and not even all of them.  Trumpers being dumber than dogshiat do not know this.

you know what else is controversial, letting child molesters like Chris Rufo near your children, but republicans are cool with it.

Canadian undergrads in Social Science get it in first year, and ahve been getting American CRT readings like that for over a decade. You can't be in Social Sciences here without knowing who bell hooks and Derek Bell (what's with the Bells?) after your first semester. I find it hard to believe that US frosh aren't reading CRT too.

They want their kids to be comfortable with the racism they're teaching them.  Teaching anything about slavery (which isn't CRT) might conflict with their home schooling curriculum of hate and bigotry.  And since conservative parents always know more about teaching their kids than professional educators ("don't you tell me how to raise my kid!") the hate agenda wins.

2022-10-20 10:34:45 PM
Republicans have always had a problem with connotation vs denotation. The rank and file, in general, have no idea what words mean, they only know how words make them feel.

Communism = bad
Fascism = bad
Critical race theory = bad

So when someone on Fox or OAN says "the commie fascists are trying to teach your children CRT!" all they hear is "BAD BAD your kids BAD"

So pretty much this

Ya know that basic premise describe up thread?  That "systematic" one?

There's your answer.  Earliest you'd really get that in a US school would be upper level undergrad classes in a handful of schools.

Textbook case of manufacturing an issue to manufacture outrage. It is literally impossible to defend against because the people angry about it have zero knowledge on the subject, but have very strong opinions about what they think it be.

The only thing good I can say about the right wing is they are propaganda experts. What they have done with CRT and transgender issues has just resonated with 45-50 percent of Americans. Add in the blond luck of inflation and supply chain issues and presto.

Nonetheless, I have become convinced it is not about winning over minds (although we still need to work towards that), rather it is just motivating like minded individuals to go the polls. Georgia being competitive is a perfect example of this.

The first time I ever heard of Critical Race Theory was when the law school I was graduating from announced they were hiring a professor whose field was Critical Race Theory for the next school year.

They don't even teach Critical Race Theory to first year law students.

I see why conservatives are against this.

CRTs are well beyond theory but they're obsolete so I agree they shouldn't be taught in schools.

Samsquantch: TL;DR version: Americans are stupid as fark but that doesn't stop them from having really strong opinions about things.

This.

They let biased sources supply all of their "information" about things instead of getting information from neutral, unbiased sources.

To this day, people still question whether Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen because they don't think he was born in the U.S. What they don't understand is that it doesn't matter where he was born because his mother was a U.S. citizen. He could have been born on the moon and he'd still be a U.S. citizen.

It's come from this idiotic belief that every opinion should be treated equally regardless of how uneducated it is.

That's why we have debates where one person is a doctor discussing the benefits of vaccines and the other side is some dumbass who read a blog that says vaccines kill people.

We really need to stop treating stupid people with kid gloves.

So why did Obama spend trillions of dollars in taxpayer money to prevent the release of his Lunar-Form Birth Certificate?!

Its just generational trauma.

And generational trauma explains a terrifying amount of why the USA is in the state it is in. But let's not address it. Feelings are for pussies and queers. Roal coal and suppress that homoerotic dream you had the other week! Hell YEAH! AMERICA!!
