An attempt to make a right-wing superhero movie has ended in disaster, with $1 million missing in China and a participant facing a federal indictment.

Zero surprise. And honestly, they deserve it.

Conservatives got suckered for a million while trying to make a racist superhero movie?

That's exactly how I would expect a crowd funded anti-woke movie project to go.

FTA:  A trailer promoting the proposed movie, Rebel's Run, featured the character Rebel fighting a global police force hunting down freethinking conservatives.

Conservatives don't engage in freethinking.  That is why there have been so many conservative "leaders" like Rush Limbaugh and all that have come after him.

Conservatives want someone to tell them what to do and want reassurance that all their hateful thoughts and beliefs are correct.

Just stating the obvious here, of course.

Beale transferred the $1 million to Ohana to be held in escrow in advance of future film funding.
Ohana was the creation of James Wolfgramm, a self-described cryptocurrency billionaire who posted pictures of sports cars that supposedly belonged to him on social media. But in fact, according to a federal indictment filed last month, Wolfgramm's wealth was a sham. The sports car pictures, for example, were pulled from other websites. Wolfgramm's business also sold what were billed as high-tech cryptocurrency mining rigs - but those too were a hoax, according to prosecutors, with their screens just running on a loop to create the illusion of mine.

AWWWW, the "free" "thinkers" should have done more of their own "research"

Couldn't have happened to a worse person.

Lucky enough for his followers there's another movie proposed that they can fund that will totally be a thing and not end up like every time he's begged for money for an idea that never really panned out.

No, he gave $1 million in crowd-fund money to a "crypto billionaire". That guy sent the money to China, but only because he first embezzled $4 million from another "client" and needed to produce some tangible items to keep the con going.

You would think that conservatives would get tired of being grifted by pretty much everything, and stop falling for these things eventually. It appears that's not the case, and that they'll continue to open their wallets in perpetuity to anyone who nurses their grievances and promises to really stiggit to the libs and trigger the snowflakes.

One might suggest pitying them, but I've stopped feeling bad for people who get exactly what they've been demanding. I hope that if they have any money left after this, they immediately plow it into the very next conservative scam that comes along, and that they die penniless and alone.

It's honestly more effort than I thought it would take to grift these morons. Usually all you need is a sob story about how the Deep State is coming for you because you have evidence of election fraud, and they'll empty their pockets.

They kind of have. His blog got deplatformed. His YouTube account got deplatformed. I think he's got some kind of website, but it's behind a paywall, so there's little chance of ever accidentally encountering it.

Of course he does... Problem is, this Ohana place is based out of Provo. Provo is as mo-mo as it gets. I can guarantee you that Ohana Capital's financial hanky panky was NOT due to the dirty libs.

There was reason to think Beale and his fans could realize their dream of going from comic books to cinema, if only through sheer fanaticism. His devoted followers call him the "Supreme Dark Lord of the Evil Legion of Evil," and describe themselves as his "minions."

Fantastic headline, Subby. One thing, why would a Supreme Dark Lord of the Evil Legion of Evil want to make a Superhero movie? To have someone to defeat? Why do his followers call themselves the same name as the idiotic one eyed movie cretins?

This is so stupid.

I think they stole the money from themselves, in some bumbling, stooge-like caper where they eventually set fire to it, lightening strikes it, a bulldozer drives over it, followed by a marching band and when the big boss came back to the Evil Legion of Evil HQ, they lied and said China stole it.

No he put $1M in a (implied right wing) bank for the "unbankable" and since the bank has silent someone else's money held in escrow - intended for medical equipment - they then stole his money to buy the equipment.

Moral of the story kids: $1M is not so high it couldn't have been held in 4 FDIC insured accounts (hell, if it had ben in 1 FDIC insured account why would have gotten at least some of it back.

Rightwing assholes are such stupid, easy marks they should just give all their money to the first person who asks for it instead of a little at a time like they're doing now.

It's hilarious that they biatch about taxes while giving money away to assholes like this, Alex Jones, Ex-President Useless farkwad, etc. Every rightwing "cause" is a con, hoovering up money from America's stupidest to give to America's most dishonest.
