Guess I'm stupid, came up with a similar idea to crowdfund a documentary film for a client, by issuing film related NFTs. First promotional items during preproduction, then still images and short clips during production and post production. This was to help ensure they had adequate funding throughout the production process beyond traditional means

Didn't go through with this though, the guy let some obvious scammers have his bank account login ... and then acted like it was no big deal

Considering I was entertaining the idea of launching a web3 indie media streaming platform with this guy, I had to shiatcan the entire deal because he was clearly too much of a dipshiat and would've been a major liability

I thought the whole NFT thing already imploded on itself... was I wrong? Are the con artists still conning people out of their money??? (Of course they are, there's always idiots willing to waste money on this shiat rather than put it to good use helping people.)

The NFT scam is twofold.

Weird crypto bros make NFTs and sell them to themselves for insane amounts of their fake money to try and convince people there's a market.

The hope is some idle rich people buy the fake money with real money to "invest" in one sometimes.

It's very blatant confidence scheme.
