Because the quantum world is so freaking weird that your brain is not designed to be capable of understanding it, so people just go *magic* and then make stuff up, and it's so hard to explain what's really going on that people without degrees in science just go "cool, magic."

So I don't have to go back to Canada to find my next girlfriend?

Quantum mechanics gives woo advocates scientific cover.  People who actually study and understand it, despise the woo merchants.

"How To Change Your Quantum Field"? No need, its Hamiltonian will do that for you.

I joined a quantum mystic religion, but I'm not observant.

Moog's video is a classic example of quantum mysticism, which is the association of a set of metaphysical beliefs and spiritual worldviews with the science of quantum mechanics.

So bullshiat basically.

Any sufficiently advanced bullsh*t is indistinguishable from quantums.

-Einstein, maybe.

I don't know why everyone gets in such a tizzy about this. The formula is simple.

People are idiots?

Check.

Being a physics minor in college (chem major), I have some vague understanding of quantum mechanics. Even so, good luck trying to explain to a layman that particles act like they are spinning, but don't actually spin, or how a particle can be effectively black and white at the same time. Not grey, not a checkerboard. Actually black and white at the same time.

The only concept I grasp from quantum mechanics is how it can be applied as a switch in calculations to have a true and false response at the same time.

I mostly do projects in a workflow software platform that allows for unique uses of sub-processes. I don't write the algorithms, but I'd love to make use of ones developed to use conditions that occur and don't occur. You wouldn't have to assign weight to variables. Just throw data at it and get answers.

Cool.

David Bohm observed some similarities in his understanding of the quantum with hindu and buddhist beliefs.

Pretty sure this is how religion came about

I teach 3rd year, and advanced qm for atomic and molecular physics. It's fun, and I don't feel the need to include any mystical bullshiat.
