If you didn't know this "fact" going into the movie, it's pretty safe to say you didn't know any other "facts" about the movie going into it, either.

It's fascinating to see how many of you seem to forget how often the admins will greenlight headlines like this just to generate clicks.

Of course the majority of cinephiles who visit the "Entertainment" tab on Fark know this movie is based on a book. But you just can't resist letting everyone know how smart you are for already knowing this, right?

I loved the movie, and the psycho is a person only a Republican could really identify with. I have many movies too that I don't understand why people like it (Cuckoo's Nest, Psycho). The silencer on the shot gun had me scratching my head, I just figured it was some shiat I didn't know about.

It's not just meh, it's downright horrible.  It's without a doubt the worst movie I've ever watched all the way through and only because I watched with someone else (after already previously watching it by myself and shutting it off in disgust 1/3 of the way through) and only because they insisted it got better.  Newsflash: It didn't.

To be perfectly fair, the Coen Brothers movies pretty much all suck (Fargo, at somewhat tolerable, is the exception to that)... but boy, this one takes the cake by far.

/Nothing happens.  It makes no sense.  It absolutely sucks.  And then, it just stops.  Without warning.  Without conclusion.  Like wtf?  It's like the Coen brothers knew it was such a hot steaming pile of garbage that they just gave up, but then decided to film it anyway (and somehow got funding).
//And then it won best picture?!  Was the academy drunk?!

For a long time I thought Unforgiven was my favorite western, but sometime last year I watched it and No Country back-to-back and thought, "shiat, I think I enjoyed No Country more".

It was a masterpiece of film making.  The horror of it all overwhelms you.

Or you could not mindlessly trust the clickbait article and google "shotgun suppressor" and find that they exist and are pretty easy to buy.

It's become religion for some, the lens through which they view everything in life.  Just substitute "sinners" for the tribe they like and "believers" for the one they don't, and it's the same stuff.

It's full of great stuff.  The movie left out a great line from the book.  The Stephen Root character is interviewing Chigurgh and asks him if he has any enemies.  Chigurh cocks his head and says something like "enemies?  Why would I allow such a thing?"

I'm a big McCarthy fan, and yet the movie is one of the few movies I've seen that is a faithful adaptation of a book that manages to be better than the book.

I like it enough to rewatch it, but you can tell it's a bit broken.  The Llewellyn being hunted by Chigurgh is kind of just a boring thing.  When Chigurgh stops to talk there are a couple of great moments.
But you can it's disjointed in that while all that's going on, the entire theme of the movie (and title) are steered by Tommy Lee Jones.  His scenes are great, too but it doesn't really connect well.  It lacks some kind of cohesion.  So the Oscar noms don't all make sense to me.  Maybe I should have read the book.

You could also not "mindlessly trust" an abrasive internet rando, google a little further than he apparently did, and learn that the first commercially available shotgun supressor was invented in 2014, a full 7 years after this movie was released, which validates both the claim made in TFA and Lambskincoat's never having heard of one when they saw first the film:

Although i love the Coens...i never cared for that film UNTIL I read the book.  Once i absorbed that book, the narrative structure, and the subtext, i realized what an excellent adaptation it really is.  Like flawless...

One piece of trivia i didn't see in the article.... Woody is in the movie... and his real-life father was mentioned in passing, in the book, regarding the shooting of a judge....  An example of how crime played by new rules these days.....  Woody's father was the criminal who shot that judge.

An observation.... "without a doubt", "downright", "perfectly", "pretty much", "somewhat", "absolutely"...   These words are the language of someone who doesn't even believe what he is saying, but its his job is convince us.

If you felt this way, you'd just state it... without the adverbs and adjectives..... its Freudian.

I'd read a few McCarthy novels before this movie came out, though I hadn't read this one. I was affected by the film, so I read the book, twice. Still not sure I truly get the point. It's haunting. The point varies depending on perspective.

"Commercially available" is the key phrase there.  The principle and construction of a suppressor is not complicated.  A farking 2-liter bottle is a (mediocre) suppressor.  Pretty sure a cartel hitman could whip up something.
