In Trubisky's defense, if he was benched for telling Diontae Johnson to shut up and color at least it was a noble cause. That dude wants unquestioned number one receiver money yet week after week he drops the ball and hurts the team. If I were the QB I wouldn't target him, either.

LOL.

"However, a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette claims Trubisky was benched by coach Mike Tomlin after a heated locker room confrontation at halftime with wide receiver Diontae Johnson.
Johnson was reportedly yelling at Trubisky over his lack of targets, even though Johnson struggled to produce throughout the game, including a dropped pass that led to an interception."

That's exactly what it was.

Personally, I'm still rooting for Mitch. I think he was given the shaft in Chicago. He'll probably never rid himself of the Nagy stench, but I hope he does.

I must have missed where in that article it said Tomlin, let alone Trubisky, thought he wasn't an NFL caliber quarterback. As a matter of fact, the article says flat out Tomlin benched him for reasons other than performance.

Yes, yes... welcome to Fark.

Nah, what really happened was that Diontae was saying in the locker room that no one loves titties as much as he does, and Mitch took that as a personal challenge

Same. He was put into a bad situation in Chicago and overburdened with the high expectations of a high draft pick. I'd be willing to bet that he'd be thriving somewhere if he was a late first rounder or early second round pick.

I'm rooting for Mitch as well but he's not going to be the starter in Pittsburgh. pretty evident when the Steelers signed Mitch telling him he had a chance to compete for the job then a few weeks later drafted the hometown kid in the first round. Trubisky had a solid preseason, but it didn't help his cause when Pickett came in and brought energy to the team and got the fans excited to see what he could do.

ideally - I'd love to see Trubisky settle into the Charlie Batch role with the team. Batch was a leader in the locker room, the city loved him, and he always a decent QB who could give you a fighting chance to win games when Ben went down with an injury or suspension. but you weren't going to win a championship with Charlie Batch. Trubisky strikes me as that same kind of QB - might have a solid few games a season, but he's not going to lead you to a Super Bowl.

I'm sure he wants to be a starter somewhere, but for better or worse this is Kenny Pickett's team for the next few years

If I had a choice between him and Justin Fields I'd take Mitch.  He wasn't great, but he's more consistent than Fields.  Fields has flashes of brilliance surrounded by big swaths of meh.

How in the world did the Browns miss out on him?

Well Mitch has flashes of mediocracy surrounded by big swaths of God awful. Watched him with the Bears for his years here. He would have 2 decent games and just when you thought he was turning the corner and becoming a game manager, he would completely shiat the bed for the next 6 games.

In classic Chicago QB, he was really streaky.  But god damn, when that kid was on, he was ON.

Even though Fields say they aren't important, the stats side with me in selecting Mitch over Justin.

I'd give Fields a couple of more years before passing judgement. He's been on two pretty bad rosters so far with one being coached by Nagy.
