Clearly we need to increase the police budget so they can ignore these people better.

FTFA:
The case turns in large part on the footage of the attack, which Jones' own defense attorney argued was "extremely graphic" and too prejudicial to show to jurors, conceding it depicts "forced oral sex."
....
In court papers that baffled prosecutors, defense attorney Phillip M. Robinson even offered to stipulate that "Mr. Jones had specific intent to rape" the woman, contending it would be "difficult for a jury to maintain neutrality and non-bias" after viewing the "violent sexual intercourse."

So a key part of the defense is "The evidence is so damning we can't let the jury see it. If they did they might think he was guilty." now, I don't even have a Law GED from Bing State U, but isn't the point of evidence to convince the jury?

Two parts of this blow my mind. First, the defense attorney is largely conceding his case to keep the video from being shown. He's willing to stipulate that the video shows forced sexual intercourse, and even his defendant's intent to rape the victim.

Second, oh holy shiat fark tha police on this. Besides the fact that they put her in this position in the first place over possession of paraphernalia, and hung her out to dry while she was raped, they simply describe the situation as having "used an addict." Considering drug addiction is a medical condition, that's disgusting in so many levels. And then, to add insult to injury, they didn't even drop the charges she was facing.

Woman
Facing Charges
Probably a minority

That's like three times not a person to the police. Esp in a red state.

Then later on the prosecutor claims they want to convict this guy for the informant. The informant that the prosecutors office is apparently pursuing charges against.

If this was a movie, a really good movie, each of the cops responsible would end up with a bullet in his stupid pig face.

I'd watch that movie.

Jones, a 48-year-old career criminal known as "Mississippi," had attended previous hearings in the case but was discovered last week to have jumped his $70,000 bail and fled the central Louisiana area.

I think I know where they might want to start looking for him.

Saw this story a while back, before the bail skip. There's got to be an angle to hit the cops here. Legally speaking, not just moral condemnation.

FTFA "We've always done it this way," Rapides Parish Sheriff's Lt. Mark Parker, the ranking officer in the operation, told AP. "She was an addict and we just used her as an informant like we've done a million times before."

That isn't the reasonable excuse you think it is

Somebody in another thread was trying to make me feel bad for the cop that was killed while investigating a rape case.  I just don't care.  I mean, it's a shame that anybody is killed anywhere for any reason but it keeps me up at night as much as the fact that Russian soldiers are dying at war.

So this story kinda puts that into perspective.  Syory after story of cops doing shiat like this, it's really hard to have an ounce of compassion for them.  It's gone.
