The opening sequence is my favorite thing in the series. I've been going crazy trying to figure out who the hell that was, he's uncredited.

Glad to finally have an answer to who it was. It's criminal that they didn't credit him.

I loved the homage to the old show, though I'm not particularly sure how it was supposed to fit in except 'because meta'.

I'd say not to overthink it. It was just a cute sequence, particularly for us olds who got the reference right away.

She-Hulk is a cute little show with more personal stakes (no blue sky beam to be stopped from destroying the world), which takes itself much less seriously than the other MCU stuff. Kinda like Deadpool for nice people. It's intended as a comedy with 4th wall breaking, so to me it's OK if they just do some neat stuff for the sake of it being cool.

I recognized the intro when she was strapped into that dental chair with the cross hairs. I absolutely loved and appreciated it

It was fun. It needs no other reason to exist beyond that.

Same can be said about the entire show. It was just a fun sitcom and a welcome change of pace from world-shattering stakes and predictable drama escalation.

I am an old school geek grognard who's been a Marvel fan since the late 70s. I absolutely loved the entire She-Hulk series and hope we get more of her. They should definitely have at least a cameo for her in Deadpool 3!

Yeah but..:: every frame should be dedicated to pondering serious questions about how the physics of superheroes work and making sure everything fits not only continuity, but predicts the future as well.

That's not where I was going with my post.  Just as a general rule I expect everything within a show to be relevant to the story in some way.

A throwaway opening credit gag is fine, just kind of unusual and unexpected.

Did you not watch the episode before it?

Bruce told her that once she lost control, that's how people would see her. "The bell can't be unrung." Now she's seen as a monster, a savage animal, like how people see current Hulk and saw Bixby-Hulk in his universe. Hence the opening.

If you need an angle to understand the purpose of the scene to be relevant, I think I can help you...

Inception.

What do I mean? Well, it's simple. They use the scene to seed the idea that we're watching a show within a show and prep the audience for that reveal by referencing the original show within the show, so that when Jen breaks thru the 4th wall and hops into another show entirely, so she can go talk to KEVIN about the show and get an ending she likes.

In other words, by blending the original series with this one, we create a framework within the show for She-Hulk's 4th wall breaking power to be used later in the episode to fix everything wrong with the show to that point.

Also, I'm still mad about 2 things: 1) we didn't get a full episode like that, and 2) the Savage She-Hulk actor wasn't credited.

I wish they'd gotten Ferrigno to do it, but I've no substantive complaints.

For you young folks who don't understand and/or not old enough to know what the opening sequence in the She-Hulk finale was referencing, here ya go:

That's reason enough.

I never read She-Hulk comics.  Aged out before they started, but apparently they were full of stuff like this.  I'll take it all day every day over DC grimdark.

To steal a saying from a Tik Tok creator - "She-Hulk is Deadpool for nice people".

And I am okay with that.

I also want to point out the K.E.V.I.N. having what looked like a little hat was a very nice & subtle touch.
