In 2010 I worked on an IT project for Walgreen's.  Back then, they were averaging a new store opening every 18 hours.

Now what they really need is Starbucks inside of Walgreens. And Walgreens inside of the Starbucks inside the Walgreens.

They went out of business in my neighborhood. When they have an entire store full of stuff the Target across the way sells for 1/2 the price they were doomed. I only saw people go there for the pharmacy.

/ They never had good prices on soda.

I call bullshiat. All the ones in my area are suffering from inventory and labor shortages. Some of them have reduced pharmacy hours because they can't retain technicians, which comes as no surprise when they're constantly being yelled at by customers for delayed prescriptions due circumstances waaaay beyond their control, they get paid less than a crew member at McDonald's, and the store manager has no problem yelling at them in front of customers. Last week was in my local one to pick up a prescription for my 17 year old kid and a corporate guy was working the counter. Surprisingly there wasn't a line of people waiting to pick up their meds. The pharmacist looked like she was ready to cry, and the two techs were so scared they kept their heads down and wouldn't make eye contact with anyone. The reason I was picking up my kid's meds in the first place was because he tried after school on Friday and again late Saturday morning. Closed both times, with a little sign that said the pharmacy was closed for the day. Oh, and the cooler was out of order. The whole farking thing. Nothing perishable was stocked in it. Just warm beer and soda. Milk, OJ, cheese, etc all empty.
