I have an expansive suburban vegetable and fruit garden that I spend a lot of time and effort on. Some seasons, it borders on being a part-time job. It's a lot of work.

I will also play Stardew Valley endlessly during the winter, and am still on the hunt for the perfect garden planning and maintenance game.

YMMV.

I find PC Building Simulator to be pretty relaxing

My brother in law plays Sims on what I call "hardcore mode". He only buys things from other people/actually going to a store, only does things his Sim has proficiency in and only take a job if it is offered to him from another Sim and that he is proficient at.

It seems exhausting, but he enjoys it so whatever.

Duh: it's so you can befriend your boss, invite them over, and devise ways to kill them. If you've got the Makin' Magic expansion, you can go Bill & Ted on Death to have him spare the boss and kill him over and over in a plethora of ways.

I'm a Physician Recruiter for a large hospital system, and I love playing "Two Point Hospital".

It's a big business conspiracy.  Once the sim games are close enough to real life work, they'll just publish their own sim games and get people to work for free without even knowing it.

Yeah, I can understand where these people are coming from. I have put so many hours into Manhunt it's crazy.

I like the Sims, but it's terrible without the money cheat code. Characters are always too tired to do anything. Buy that expansion pack, load up the new area, and your character face plants and goes to sleep because of having zero energy.

With the money cheat code, you can actually DO things since you don't have to have a job. You can get better beds and chairs that fills your energy meter faster. Your character doesn't just disappear for hours. (At "work".)

I also hate the Sims as it's the ultimate DLC money grab of all time.

Because, sometimes, it's nice to be able to do it right.

As a real life architect, the idea of playing the Sims or Minecraft in my time off just sounds awful. I already get to work for nearly-free in real life, I don't need to turn my profession into a hobby

My Halloween/horror themed run in Fallout 4 is built around this awesome Sims Settlements mod. Setting up heavy defenses against the zombie/ghoul hordes is my entire focus while inching my way to Diamond City. The Red Rocket Settlement just got overrun by a horde so large it crashed my game. Think I did a pretty good job recreating modern day American life.

"Taking care of a baby that isn't yours." God. Damn. I've heard some Marine burns in my life, but that one is thermo nuclear.

I was about to say this. Here's Linus and Jake from Linus Tech Tips playing PC Building Simulator 2

I knew a guy who exclusively played flight simulators, and who told me one time he was super excited to try a new one he'd just purchased that simulated a flight from the United States to Charles de Gaulle airport in France... IN REAL TIME.

That's right, this guy was going to spend 8 or 9 hours of real time flying a simulated plane to Europe, the vast majority of which time would be spent on auto pilot, just humming along in silence except for the occasional radio transmission.

Seems most people who try to model reality accurately in The Sims end up with sims that are tired and crying all the time.

That seems excessive, but then again I like truck sims and Elite Dangerous, which is not that far removed from exactly that situation.

Especially if you take a San Diego to Bellingham run and keep catching highway closures on I5...
