told the story 100,000 times, waht's one more....Always love how the 2008 or so season, the Mets blew something like a 6 game lead, with 11 games left, to miss the playoffs.  the NLCS that year was ratings juggernaught ARIZONA vs Colorado.  Yeah, I'm sure the East Coast markets loved that.

so watching "MLB Tonight" (is that still around?) and the ESPN guys were breaking down how each team did vs the Mets.  WHO MISSED THE PLAYOFFS. "welp, the Mets went 8-3 vs Arizona, and 9-2 vs the Rockies, I think this would have been a great series......"

I leapt off the couch.  "THEY DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!  THEY'VE ALL BEEN IN CANCUN FOR 2 WEEKS?  CAN YOU KNOCK THE EAST COAST shiat OFF?  there's actual live baseball being played tonight and you're talking about a damn team who didn't even make the postseason!?!?!?!?!?"

The Mets went 15-11 in September. Over a whole season, that would be the 5th best record in baseball.

The Mets played fine. The Braves played better, and after waking up from a two month hangover, played well enough to run down the Mets.

Yes, exactly. And it isn't exactly the first time the Braves have essentially caught fire half-way through a season and completely ran rough shod over everyone in their way. Ask the '93 Giants.
