The first time I saw Louis CK I was at a bar and the TV was on some talk show and it being a bar, you could only read the subtitles.  So I red the subtitles and said to my wife, hey this guy looks kinda funny, let's watch if he's on TV again.

So we did, and I don't even know how it's possible but hearing him actually tell the jokes was a weird, unfunny letdown.

Oh, and he's also a farking creep too so we didn't miss anything by never watching him again.

Just open up a reddit account and learn how to post videos of yourself.  Granted, you will probably attract more of a following if you are not a fat middle aged dude, but hey at least someone will see it.  The bar for male nudes on reddit is pretty low.

Pass.

Technically, he's a Mexican, so I'm surprised people didn't try to deport him.

He made enough money before they came with torches and pitch forks he was able to go make his own platform to put content on and no bunch of stock price worried executives could come after his means of production any more.

We were told we weren't allowed to use phones, not only for photographs but for any reason, including text messages. This has become de rigueur for the post-cancellation comedy circuit, and when C.K. has been playing smaller gigs in the run up to these big shows, the policy has been the same, a "fark you" to the online outrage machine that would pore over clips of his off-color jokes with new intensity now he's been exposed as a wrong'un.

This is standard for every large venue comedy show now, kind of kills a tour if all the material is posted online after the first night.

It's all just allegations, but one woman claimed she got freaked out and when she tried to leave the room, he held the door closed until he finished.

He never admitted to that, specifically. And I imagine he probably denied it through publicists, because, you know, that's probably a felony.

2022-10-10 11:42:18 AM
"At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true," C.K. wrote. "But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly."

So he asked and they consented and then he's somehow a problem?   And the power he had wasn't that they worked for him, just that he had Star Power or something?

I don't like him anyway because he's crude. But if a guy gets consent but he still gets nailed for something, I'm not sure what more he is supposed to do if he wants to get frisky.

RaceDTruck: How is this guy getting arena gigs?

There's a sizeable part of the population for whom annoying/angering the straw people they have standing in for real groups in their mind is the whole point of most of their lives. "Owning the libs" is the highest form of expression to them. They don't care that there was a legitimate reason for his "canceling"*, just that their continued fandom pisses off the right people.

*Ask any one of them outside of the context of what Louie did and they'll fully agree with the fact that no, seeing your boss/co-worker's dick should definitely not be a part of most people's normal workday.

Most comedians have severe social issues to begin with. Doesn't surprise me one bit that they are misogynic and creepy or view women as objects.

Remember folks, there's truth in comedy.

So, here's the thing...

From what I understand it was always with people that he was in an elevated peer relationship with.  If you have some sort of power (professional, spiritual, personal, whatever) the person you invite I to your sex life may be uncomfortable with it because they may feel they have something to gain, or may not even know any better, if if ostensibly they seem to be in it consensually.  That's an example of even the appearance of impropriety.  Don't do it.  Want to do these things?  Do it with someone who doesn't possibly have a professional gain by their participation.

That's really not difficult to understand, but we all know your post was meant to be "edgy".

I went to Tim & Eric in the old timey days before the pandemic and they were super strict. They had someone removed for just having their phone out.

That explanation always sat a little uneasy with me. I could understand the pressure of he was their boss, but it feels like we're meant to treat adult women like grade schoolers being preyed on by their teacher. He did plenty of wrong, unprofessional shiat in this scenario without having to insult women's ability to manage their own decisions.

Paying a hooker is easy, doesn't take much power. It's all about power.

These weren't random people unrelated to the show business field.

If Louis was vouching for you at that time, it could only benefit your career.

Nobody in that situation wasn't aware of "a yes might further my career and a no might hamper it" just because they weren't directly employed by him, and the problem is he lied to himself the same way you are by pretending that wasn't true.

Gramma: So he asked and they consented and then he's somehow a problem?

That was the explanation when the first woman came forward. Now there's 5, and most of them weren't asked for permission. Even among the ones who were asked permission, it's not an unlimited pass to have a surprise wank session when they were trying to do their jobs. I implore you to read at least a tiny bit of that article.

Here's the thing for all the soft defenders of this.

Does Louis CK think he would have been as successful in finding "consensual" partners if he didn't carry fame, and the possibility of something in return for the other participant?

Do you imagine that is the case as well?

When you're in a position of authority over a person, there's a strong element of compulsion - they don't want to lose their job/whatever other bad shiat could happen from, "No I don't want to see that shiat WTH man??"  Same reason schools(even for the grown)/the military/most jobs/practically everybody in creation has policies and laws against trying that shiat on your subordinates and other tangentially related workers when you're in a position to mess with their career/life bigtime.  "Is it ok if I do this?" is not a legit question when a no answer could end in you trying to get a job at Taco Bell, losing your housing, or being punished/framed for shiat you didn't even do at work.  All of which are examples that have happen.  YOU DON'T DO THAT SHIAT

2022-10-10 1:03:44 PM
Does anyone have a clip of that episode of Louie where there's a homeless guy jerking off on a bus and Louis goes up to him and asks him "Hey man, why do you do that?" and the homeless guy says "Cause I like it and it makes me feel good!" and Louis, instead of stopping him or calling the cops to report this man who could have sexually assaulted his own daughters, he just smiles and nods approvingly, and the episode finishes.

I swear to god that is in an episode of Louie but I'm not gonna go download a shiatty mid-2000's drama and watch every episode one by one, with every groan-inducing episode where there's some horrible misunderstanding and a woman slaps Louis in the face if only he had just taken the time to explain what he really meant, just to find the homeless jerkoff episode.
