The D.C.aturated Cinematic Universe.

Hey, those matchups weren't actually as stupid as I thought they would be. Except Martian Manhunter vs Hulk... That one doesn't really make sense.

The Arrowverse would have been ten times better on the big screen than any of the Snyder-led trash they produced.

i knew it was terrible from watching it.

"Who would win in a fight" is always the dumbest argument both because it entirely misses the point that being the biggest and strongest is not what makes a good superhero/villain and because the answer is always obvious: Whoever the plot would be best served with.

WW84 was Snyder-verse, not Arrowverse. You're proving the point.

At eleven this is a great and fascinating discussion among fans. As an adult it is plot driven argument for a writer room.

For example, Hulk is extraordinarily powerful so we need him to lose to Thanos and hide inside Banner to aid the plot.

What sucked was the Arrowverse was repeatedly hamstrung by the higher-ups at WB and couldn't use so many characters.

"Oliver has had more displayed experience against larger physical brawlers and martial artists, even going toe to toe with Ra's al Ghul."

Way to undersell your point, author. Ollie didn't just fight Ra's. He (eventually) beat him and took his place at the head of the League of Assassins.

/ It always rankled me when later seasons would have him struggle to fight some other human, especially if that person wasn't particularly well known or respected or had really small-stakes motives and goals. I'd be like "Where've you been training that you've developed the skills to go head to head with Ra's Al Ghul and nobody's ever heard of you? There are only so many remote islands with multiple martial artist mentors where a person can train for 5 years. Totally unbelievable!"

Quora questions about that are always dull to me about that because they set everything up like a dungeons and dragons fight set up in a Pokémon arena. How would Darth Vader do against Sauron or Voldemort?

And hell, half the time heroes have a variable strength range of "strong as they need to be" based on the stakes or their condition. It seems half the time Spider-man gets his ass kicked he had a cold or was thinking about Aunt May or he was distracted by another villain and suddenly Stiltman has him on the ropes*

*(Stilt-man defeated him and was about to kill him in ASM #237 when he changed his mind- Feisty Fano!)

The saddest versions of this is when people decide which Jedi/Sith matchups result in victory based on the lightsaber combat forms.

Not only Hulk, there were three god-level powered supes: Cpt. Marvel, Thor, and Scarlet Witch.
They hid away Hulk.
They de-powered Thor.
Marvel did some sort of flyby and went...somewhere.
Scarlet Witch got distracted.
All of them should have been able to take on Thanos one-on-one and two would have been a rout. Hell, Wanda seems like she could take them all apart.

Yeah and no. Yeah, a superbly trained fighter has all the advantage on paper. But if they don't have superpowers, any schmo could kill them.

You can shoot Supergirl in the face and you might mildly annoy her. You shoot Ollie or Batman in the face you just killed yourself a hero.

I heard a former Seal talking the other day about how true humility is one of the traits he looked for when training new seals. Because thousands of dollars of gear and years of training can all be erased by a child soldier who's firing an AK for the third time in their life.

He **would** have been able to show off his guns if the writers hadn't wussed out on the whole 'ant man becomes giant man inside Thanos' anus" ending of Infinity War.  Hard to snap anything when you're ripped into shreds.

This is a statement on production value over subsidence. They're both sh*t, but one has more gleam and less stink, therefore it is preferred by audiences.

I thought the biggest issue was the requirement for them to put out full 20+ episode network seasons that resulted in a ton of filler in every season when the main plot arc would have been much better served by something like 10-13 episode seasons.

iirc Batman beat Hulk in some crossover by using knockout gas. Because that makes sense.

In Marvels defense, *I* could beat that Batwoman.
Maybe not Kate Kane, but Ryan Wilder?  Absolutely.  She killed that show.
It had to become the Alice Show (which wasn't a bad thing, mind you) but Ryan was just...the worst.

Taking hawkeye, white canary, but how does captain America beat citizen steel?

Vision vs firestorm depends in how nerfed firestorm is,

Can arrow supergirl last in space?

Atom over antman maybe?

Which iteration of the legends, amazingly I think most win

Moonknight is immortal?

Martian man hunter has psychic attacks and can phase to keep from getting hit right? Otherwise hulk wins

I have a chess set (made by Eaglemoss) with all Marvel heros on one side, and the villains on the other... and then i got the DC one too.... so now, i can play Marvel vs DC. (good vs bad, bad vs good, good vs good, bad vs bad)....  so getting a kick out of these replies.

Superman/Wonderwoman
Luther/Cheetagirl

On the Marvel side, there are extra pieces for alternatives.
Captain America or Cyclops/Captain Marvel
Hulk/SheHulk
Magneto or Doctor Doom/ Viper

Oh hell no. I should have been more clear... I personally count the entire DCEU catalog as "Snyder-led trash," even the ones he didn't direct. None of the movies have been good.

Peacemaker was a good TV series though.

Yes, but who would win a fight between a Pterodactyl and a Polar Bear?*

Yup, which is a big reason that the DC films have been terrible.  They don't care about character development, just powers.  Power doesn't make you interesting, character does.

And I would argue the arrow verse Spent way too much time on character development And 2 little time on the powers, Count the amount of time somebody was able to stop the Flash who does not move in super speed

My issues with this fairly stupid middle school thought experiment.

If Thor beats Superman, Capt Marvel destroys Supergirl without breaking a sweat

Either Thor loses, or Supergirl does. I think both Supes probably should win

You can't re-use 4 of the 6 Legends in a fight with the Guardians, who have no solo matchups. Guardians vs Firefly and Vixen? Guardians win. But really, there's no point in this comparison.

Marian Manhunter should probably fight Vision. Firestorm should probably fight someone like Dr Strange or Scarlett Witch or Iron Man, not Vision.

I don't like some of the matchups they choose at all. Others were deadon.

I feel like they must have just asked 10 folks around the office to come up with a fight and then made an article out of it.

Titans is in between. The fight scenes can be agreeably psychotic and violent, but the show runners reealllllllllyyyyyyy wanted me to think Hawk and Dove were interesting characters, and.... no.

Too few villains getting their buttons kicked, too much processing.

That last bit sums it up perfectly. I mean, Marvel has what, 3 women who are "the most powerful beings in the universe". And then you have Hulk and Thor who are equally undefeatable. I mean, with the number of "all powerful" heroes in the Marvel universe (DC as well), it's a wonder anyone tries to be a bad guy.

Yeah, but he's totally beat when faced with fire.

Just farking fire.

If we're talking about Smart Hulk, Martian Manhunter is screwed as soon as Banner figures out that he's avoiding fires that get started in the course of their battle.

Coincidentally enough, I'm watching the original Superman right now. Has anyone ever explained how Superman flies? How does he propel himself? Flatulence? Or is there some kind of organ in his hand that pulls his body along beside it? And how did Lois Lane fly next to him when all they were doing was linking elbows? I mean, the planking itself is pretty impressive, but thousands of feet in the air is mind blowing...
