1) Anti-heroes are a cheap cop-out and don't count
2) Cinderella's step mom, Lady Tremaine, worked for years to F over generations of her target family. With a smile.

Colonel Hans Landa, Inglourious Basterds

That's a bingo.

Hannibal Lecter

Is he a villain or just someone who's really hungry?  Also, they did fark him out of a deal and make him listen to Jesus television, so there's that.

Hans Landa is not the best character in Inglourious Basterds.Shosanna is.

This list only serves to remind me that one of these days I really do need to get around to watching It.  Preferably before this Halloween.

The RLM boys pointed out that he and Bruce Willis never actually meet. They miss each other by a few seconds.

Although not from a movie, her Deep Space 9 performances as Kai Wynn... my god she is just a spectacular psychopath in both. I loved hating her so much.

I'd also suggest Daniel Plainview even though he's the protagonist of his movie - he's still a villain

Castor Troy in Face/Off.

Yeah, I dunno how one might quantify something like this.

Certainly, Alan Rickman's Sherrif of Nottingham would go on a list like this.

For me it was #8

My vote is for the Klingon girls with the deep cleavage from Star Trek Generations.

But then again, my vote is always for deep alien cleavage, evil or not.

Didn't read the article but if Lonzo from Training Day and Neil McAuley from Heat aren't on that list, then it's stupid.  Both awful people that you root for.

2022-10-10 8:47:06 AM
Killmonger #1 really? To me he came across as a whiner who was throwing a tantrum because he felt like he was owed something apart from other problems and delivered his lines like he was cosplaying Wesley Snipes.

Colonel Hans Landa, the premise of your shiatty little listicle falls apart if every other character in the film was cool, Col. Handa wasn't *the* best character there by a longshot.
Want an example of a villain as best character?
Roy Batty in Blade Runner, Deckard described himself perfectly in the monologue "cold fish," that was the character. Batty and the Replicants made the movie interesting.

Someone really wanted to write an article about how much they liked Black Panther. Shiatty way to present it.

Five of those movies were damn good. Black Panther is of no interest to me.

Tim Curry's Pennywise was brilliant. MUCH better than the Skarsgård interpretation. Curry realized that Pennywise was much more terrifying if he was also funny, and the director let him run with it. One of my favorite scenes in any horror movie was Richard Thomas screaming at Pennywise, almost crying over his dead brother. Curry's Pennywise responded by telling jokes, dancing and humping a bannister. It was a brilliant, funny and awful scene.

There was no trace of humor in Skarsgård's performance. That was a big miss.

Time has somewhat vindicated Frank Miller's directorial debut and bumped it up to cult status, but it's still an acquired taste at best.

No it hasn't, no it isnt, and if shiat is a taste then sure I guess.

I came here specifically looking for Bill the Butcher on their list, and was disappointed. He is literally one of my favorite villains of all time, DDL is such a great actor.

Easily the best character in the film and it only really comes alive when he's on screen.
