Subby here: yes, I know the painting in Data's quarters is "Tableau I" (seen here) and the canon is that Data painted it himself "in the style of Mondrian". It's still awesome.

Really, what's the difference between the two?  The perceived genius is in the design, not the execution.  I could probably duplicate the painting with some stencils.

Mondrian did get a little more creative later on.  Here's his Broadway Boogie Woogie from 1943:
