So semi related, If Margarine Traitor Soon-not-to-be-Greene's husband can do a quickie divorce, does MTG automatically get removed from the ballot? Because she isn't MTG any more?

Not if she keeps her married name.

I am confused who will tell her how to vote now that she no longer has a husband to love, cherish, and obey.

I keep hearing that one of the reasons the Trumpists are so angry is that the urban, liberal elite look down on them and ridicule them.

Fine. If you don't want people to call you stupid, then stop doing the things that stupid people do.

Psst: When your party lionizes ignorance, you don't get intelligent candidates.

The GOP's entire platform is anti-knowledge. They're anti-education. Anti-art. Anti-science. Anti-library. Anti-teacher. Anti-intelligence agencies. Anti-college. There isn't a single place where they advocate for learning, because learning makes people realize that they're wrong about everything.

Why would you expect to have intelligent candidates?

Check your tenses, pal. Ain't no election happened yet, so all we have is Republicans sweating some bad polls.

They don't "understand" anything yet, because this is all projection and conjecture.

// fall of 2016, Democrats had the measurements for Hillary's WW drapes, grand plans for Obama's 3rd term, and a glimpse of finally being rid of Republican shiatbirdery - remind me how that all worked out first week of November

I get where you're coming from and I hate to be overconfident at this point too, I'm used to looking like an idiot after a failed poltical prediction so that's not the issue, it would just be incredibly sad is all, but surely, SURELY, GA voters can't be that farking stupid?

Walker's single solitary claim to political cred is he's a massive Trumper. He's got literally nothing else to offer now that his football playing days are over, and it's never been a worse time in the last six years to be a massive Trumper given all of the shiat that's going down about the documents, the NY lawsuits, the Jan 6 Committee and Trump's various cronies all suffering in their jocks (to use an Australian legal expression) as authorities and injured parties circle.

In my experience the Georgia GOP wouldn't be ripping into Walker unless their internal polling was telling them bad things at this point in the situation. Walker's own kid denouncing him might even be a factor. Or it could be that so much shiat has come out about him lately that they're figuring there's probably quite a bit still to happen?

Some are. We'll just have to see what all the changes to voting in the state has done to affect the ability of everyone else to turn up. Remember, the R strategy is not just to appeal to stupid people, it's also to gerrymander and disenfranchise other voters. MTG didn't just win because she had a bunch of stupid people behind her, she won because she got her opponent harassed out of state.

Duncan returned to CNN Thursday to discuss the headache Walker has become for Republicans in Georgia and across the country. On AC360, Duncan explained he will not vote for incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and also said Walker has not "earned" his respect.

Duncan admits Walker is an unqualified moron who has no business in the senate, yet still refuses to vote for the guy running against him.

This is just more performative mouth noises from the Republican Party.

Oh we have a lot of that in Australia too. Coaches and retired players/athletes find their way into mainstream politics at state and federal level. When you think about it though coaches have to do a lot of multiskilling when it comes to tactics and developing plays, then getting the other coaches and the playing group to understand both the plays and the tactical basis for them, then examining their opponents to understand some tactics to counter their likely plays and work with the players on what to anticipate and how to respond as a team. At the same time they're also thinking about who to cut, who to recruit, how to manage issues which arise for the playing group (eg the occasional scandal), how to respond in the media and also they'd have an awareness of the team's finances and governance.

Lots of politicians are former lawyers, teachers or industrial/community organisers. Being a sports coach isn't really any worse than any of those backgrounds in terms of demonstrating a broad range of skills including critical analysis, communication and team building.

Didn't we do this dance the other day? "10 people at a Mastriano rally" is a data point that ends up being an irrelevant curiosity if he wins in November - like the polling, it suggests that November is in the bag...

...but I again point to 2016 as another election "in the bag" that ended up being very much not in the bag ('smatter of fact, the bag had rotted, been torn up, burned, buried in soft peat, dug up, atomized, and dispersed in the Crab Nebula).

If 10 people show up at a Mastriano rallies from now until November, but 4 million people show up on Election Day for him, who farking cares what his rallies looked like?

// we don't award seats based on rally enthusiasm in the autumn before Election Day (or polling data, or new voter registrations, or "likely-voter" models, or "the electorate seems pissed at Republicans", or any other moronic-ass crap CNN thunk up this morning)

The Dems haven't seen a voter registration surge like this in decades, Republicans are bleeding out rivers of money, and the trumpers are so demoralized that they're not even showing up to rallies in deep evangelical crazy land...but sure, let's just ignore all the indicators of trouble and surrender now.
