(Guardian)   The turf war between pickleballers and tennis players is causing quite a racquet as there is no love lost between them. Does one side have advantage? TOUCHDOWN   (theguardian.com) divider line

Don't care about either.

I can understand it. I had to quit playing racquetball after a few concussions. I mean, skateboarder concussions were bad enough, but having my eyes blink at different rates was a sure sign.

Pickle ballers are insane at any level.

Serious tennis players join a private club so they don't have to share a court with regular folk.

Advantage tennis.

I am not joking when i say pickelball vs tennis has brought down 2 successive governments in my town, and has created racial tension between the elderly and the asians that got forced to play tennis. There is a pickelball related ballot question almost every election.

Its also torn households apart because the asians frequently have elderly living with them.

I don't think I've ever known anybody that plays recreational tennis.

Wife and I will play like once a month or so.

I mean the tennis courts are right across the street from us, so not much excuse not to. Its fun.

But i do agree with you that its people either out there playing every other day competitively, or someone who woke up that morning and decided they would try tennis, and today is like the 3rd time they will ever play.

Are they going to start airing Pickleball on ESPN2?  How are thry going to fit it in with all the amazing corn hole and Slamball action they currently air?

1 tennis court can be made into 2 pickleball courts
The majority of tennis players play singles
The majority of pickleball players play doubles
8 people can play pickleball in the same amount of space as 2 play tennis

Game, set, match to pickleball.

The thought of angry tennis players is hilarious. Cake eating fancy lads and Nancy's steaming red in the face while wearing those stupid outfits.

Here, if you want to guarantee a court, you have to go to the city's Parks and Rec dept. and reserve the court.  If you have a reservation then it is no one's business what you do with the court.  If you like tennis then play tennis.  If you like pickleball then play pickleball.  It is your court time for an hour.  Us?  We used to reserve both courts and play hockey across them.  It was great fun even if those orange balls stung like hell if they hit you right.

You sound like a very reasonable and well-adjusted individual who would never stubbornly close their mind to new social and recreational opportunities.

Pickleball, serious business!

(To)day you won a ticket to see Doctor J
Front row seat (in free!) no pay
Radio in hand, snacks by feet
Game's about to start, you kickin' popcorn to the beat
You finally wake up, Doc's gone to town
Round his back, through the hoop, then you scream "Touchdown!"

I'd much rather sit on my couch, cheetos in reach, and type about how awful pickleball and tennis players are than actually play either sport.

We took it up when we quit drinking. Unlike tennis you don't need to have a reasonable amount of proficiency to have fun. It's not as intense as racquetball or squash and the tennis courts by me are empty 99% of the time. Serious tennis players play at the country club where they host pro tennis. The noise is a thing, but already they have quiet(er) paddles. You'd think you could play it with racquetball racquets as well, but i haven't tried. You might be stuck with the ball though.

Suck it tennis players.  First come first serve.

Have worse problem as a Curler, dealing with Skaters (hockey)  We cannot really use the same ice.  Curlers need it flat and pebbled, while Hockey players want a "bowl" and smooth.

When we talked to them about building a 2nd rink, while sharing the facilities they still wanted to be able to use it for Hockey instead of dedicated curling ice.  kind of a non-starter.

Curlers tend to have a more "Club" atmosphere, and we would bring in food to share  a meal after a game.  While Hockey want to do "fund raising" and offer concessions.

Racquetball isn't a contact sport. You're not suppose to get slammed into the walls by your opponent.

Here in Florida, the tennis court at my local park started getting daily use once the pickleball fad reached the area.
