FTFA : ""The hardest thing I have to do is signing those letters. That's the hardest thing I have to do," he said at the time."

I don't disagree. I'm glad I'm not the one to sign those letters, to make those phone calls, to go to Dover for that. I'll criticize everything else, but not that.

Submitted this with the headline "TFG resented having to give his autograph to loser families of losers"

Which if you recall, is exactly how Trump viewed our troops who died in battle

If that was too hard for him, then he had no business being president because that is one of the difficult things a real president has to do.

It wasn't because he felt for the families, it was because he didn't want his name associated with a loser.

You give him too much credit.

I don't fault them.  If you can write a book and make a buck, do it! Do it now!

I fault the people that BUY books about political crap. Without them, the authors would be poorer but the world would be a richer place.

I'll give this one a pass, since it was a reporter who wrote the book instead of some Republican who no longer holds an elected office.

You should still criticize him. Yeah, it would suck, but he took on the job as this nation's LEADER. Fark that whiny piece of shiat. He had the highest job in the land, wanted the ability to order everyone around, but can't accept the actual DUTIES of his job? Yeah, he gets nothing from me for this. If he didn't want the bummer part of the job, he shouldn't have taken it.

I'll have to disagree with the disagreement.  You're giving him a pass because he doesn't want to sign the letters, because he feels shiatty.  ergo, he feels human.  And it's a shiatty job, and no one would want to do it.

You fail to see the end result, if you agreed that, yes, maybe he shouldn't have to do that.

The end result is that the families never get a letter from the President about the loss of their loved one.  A letter from the president who is ostensibly, waging the war their loved one died in.

You're probably thinking like an empathetic human where you imagine him sitting at a desk with the gravity of these letters weighing on his conscience.

The reality is it was hard because babypants don't want to because losers die in wars.  But babypants has to because he'll look worse if he doesn't.  So babypants signs letters.  Hrumphf.

Anyone who voted for trump hates anyone who dies for America for any other reason than sucking his tiny mushroom. Military people who voted for him must be the most vile sacks of shiat in the world. They hate the people who serve with them, they hate America, they're f*cking cowards, they only want to murder people of color as long as it's safe to do so and they rape little babies. trump supporters sound like rooskies. Go figure.

He fixated on North Korea and its nuclear capabilities, having his National Security Council draw up a menu of options, from the equivalent of annihilation to total appeasement, and a series of possibilities in between...

I have a theory about people who have had malignant narcissists in their immediate lives.  If you haven't spent time with someone like TFG in an impactful way like on a daily basis, it's hard to imagine their true mindset.  Like, you might think it's a sort of feint or defensive behaviour and underneath there's a normal person in pain, maybe.

Nay.  There isn't jack shiat in there.  They live moment to moment and the only people in their world is them. It's unfathomable, but if you've absolutely had to deal with someone like this for a significant amount of time you learn to spot their traits almost at a distance.

Exactly. He was forced to by his minders.

What he would have preferred to do is punch the deceased younger sister in the face and blame her for the death.

Pretty much.

And on the flip side, if you haven't, or haven't really recognized the psychopath for what it was, you'll never accept that what you're looking at isn't human.

If you were in his position you would feel it is hard because people died;  Turnip doesn't give half a crap about that.
the ONLY thing he's pissed about is that they dared to die while he was in charge, and they're making HIM look bad. It's 100% about him. Always has been, and always will be.

Jesus, everything about that article is bullshiat.

It adds: "Trump cared about fulfilling a campaign promise, but aides were struck that he seemed rattled by the number of deaths involved...

Trump never gave a shiat about any campaign promises.  For one thing his followers are so rabidly deep in the personality cult that he could just say we'd pulled out of Afghanistan without actually pulling out and a third of the country would argue there were no longer U.S. troops there.

But he sure was able to stick it to Biden and America by negotiating with the Taliban without including the government we set up and supported.

Life imitates art:

And kind old King George
Sent Mother a note
When he heard that Father was gone

It was, I recall
In the form of a scroll
With gold leaf adorned
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away

And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp

- When the Tigers Broke Free
