The old 'Heroica' line is basically LEGO 'Warhammer Quest'...

First and obvious answer. It has my vote.

Dragonlance Inn of the Last Home bc what's more D&D then starting the whole thing off in a tavern?

Make a set based on this and it'll sell hand-over-fist.

Make a strangely generic looking forest, probably named "The Forest" and it'll have appeared on more games than the tavern

White Plume Mountain.

ALL of it.

(I would also accept the Temple of Elemental Evil, in it's entirety. Mostly because my PCs are about to leave Nulb and go to the Temple itself in tomorrow's session.)

The Temple would be so, so much worse - make White Plume Mountain look totally workable

Absolutely. Castle Ravenloft would be amazing.

Or a large, detailed beholder or Demogorgon.

Hopefully someone builds a gelatinous cube using clear bricks and some of those skeleton mini-figures.

2022-10-07 9:15:29 AM
The set should be a dark, cramped room with a broken down card table covered in half-painted figures, paper geomorphs, dice, empty soda cans, and half-full bowls of potato chips. A bunch of disheveled mini-figures sit around the table, while "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" plays on a phonograph propped up by old issues of Heavy Metal magazine.

Now THAT's Dungeons and Dragons.

Hell yes. Either the entire party looking at one of their members being sucked into the Sphere of Annihilation (like just the feet sticking out), or everyone in the final tomb, looking at the Demi Lich slowly rising into the air, and wondering wtf is about to happen.

Man, some great ideas already thrown out here in the thread. Other (probably not as good) ones that come to mind:

Tower of High Sorcery
High Clerist's Tower
Mithral Hall
Castle Ravenloft
Keep on the Borderlands
House Baenre
Undermountain (specifically Skullport?)
Reorx's Forge
Demonweb Pits
Gates of Firestorm Peak

You'd have to limit it somehow, I'm not sure Halaster's piece of Undermountain is even the same for 10 minutes at a time or bounded/constrained by physical reality.  Be pretty damn hard to make a set out of that - that boy ain't right and he's powerful enough that reality is forced to respect that

Yeah. I love the shiny math rocks and have far too many of them, and even I looked at those and went "Cool, but.... why is this a thing?"

This is the most cost effective. Four various class mini figures alone in a room with a large gem, the moment before you realize that the DM is not your friend and has found a way to kill off your 7th and 8th level characters. 1982 was a tough year for me.

If you had 7th and 8th level characters in Tomb of Horrors, your DM wanted them dead anyway. The suggested level range was 10 to 14 and I can think of at least three no save instant death moments that would torment a party regardless of level.

Wasn't there a Gary Gygax science fiction adventure where you're exploring an absolutely massive ship and it's death trap after death trap?

Expedition To The Barrier Peaks - unpopular with DM's as you tended to end up with fighters and thieves wielding lasers and plasma weapons, bit more of a balance impact that was apparent at the time it was written

A-frickin'-Hem.

The single most evil, insidious, unfair, brutalizing dungeon in any RPG ever, even The Arboretum of Schism from Masks of Nyarlathotep for Call of Cthulhu (Famously: "My mask is slipping, and the fear behind it is... Erotic.") and The 13th Floor from Renraku Arcology in Shadowrun (My steel lynx has lasers... LASERS. Now, stupid street samurai, take a DOUBLE deadly. TWICE.)

News flash: Someone's snuffing it at least every four levels of The Most Brutally Unfair Dungeon In RPG History.

One battle (for level 6-8, BTW) is NINE Aurak and FIVE Sivak draconians. Auraks come with Hold Goddamn Person. Sivaks FARKING FLY! AND BREATHE ACID! AND CAST MAGE SPELLS!

Then... THERE'S THE GODDAMN BLUE ADULT DRAGON THAT JUST RANDOMLY SHOWS UP IN THE MIDDLE OF A FRIGGIN' BOSS FIGHT! ZOT! NICE PLATE MAIL, POTATO!

And... Who's that tall, dark, smoking hot chick on his back... OH, IT'S JUST THE BLUE FARKIN' LADY...

...Oh... I remember this part of the book... Hands sheet to DM... DM feeds it to the shredder...

In the 1st edition Paranoia sourcebook Acute Paranoia, there is an adventure that can be summarized thusly: get a White Wall repainted Black.

It's highly unlikely any players will have a living clone before this is accomplished.
