This is really the first pot company to do this to save space? Granted "brick" weed a very negative meaning, but that's mostly because it was terrible, cheap stuff in the first place. If you can lower shipping and holding costs and still find a market good for them I guess.

It's K-Cups for weed. Bulk flower comes in far more varieties, is almost as easy to load into any vape chamber, and is a hell of a lot cheaper.

Yes, it's called "bud" when you're in high school and college.

When you're old enough to buy it legally in a dispensary, literally everyone everywhere calls it "flower". Stop trying to make "bud" happen again.

Is that even biologically correct? Is the smokable part the flower of the plant? To google!

The answer is yes, for anyone else who did not know that.

The part of the cannabis plant with the most terpenes and cannabinoids is the flower.

So, it is technically correct to call it flower.

It is the flower of the plant.

The shake can also be used (like for extracts) but people smoke the flower. Bud is another name, but they are the same thing.

one nice part about flower vapes is the decarbed waste. Like TFA says, it works great for edibles and oils... I've been hoarding mine. I manage some backcountry cabins through work and my plan was to make some Intergalactic space bread and spend a few days in the mountains with a few buddies eating bread and catching up.  It didn't happen last year and now I'm overflowing with decarbed flower. Hopefully it happens this year or I'll have to give this stuff away.

So after you vape flower it is still useful for edibles?!?!?

I thought vaping cooked out the THC?

Did you take ibuprofen today?
Maybe a statin?
Perhaps an SSRI or insulin?
Allergy pill?

Funny conversation I had with my sister years ago - she was super pissed at drug users of the 60s and 70s not because they were drug users/beatniks/hippies or whatever, but because they created enough of a counterculture that it could be demonized which resulted in criminalization and research blocks on medicines like cannabis, LSD, MDMA, peyote, etc. "Set medical research back decades" she complained.

And she was right.

from the studies done on the volcano, which there are quite a few since it is a registered medical device in a number of countries, a hot air vape (convection + conduction) extracts about 50 - 60% of the cannabinoids from the plant material. There is still lots of THC in the waste, which can be recovered through solvent extraction or just eating the decarbed plant material.

I often vape under 190'c, which isn't hot enough to vaporize all the different cannabinoids, so my waste tends to be more potent than some other's.

You have a long fight/education effort coming. I knew it was bud when I smoked regularly and I'm guessing the same for a lot of those that are new to legal cannabis (or are older). I've not heard flower, though I will admit I am MUCH more into edibles.

Either way, nomenclature slap fights seem silly to me.

Actually, I remember when "flower" started getting used as a term and that was when legal dispensaries opened in Colorado. The term was used to make it clear you were buying flower (as 'bud' was more of a slang). Prior to that, 'flower' was more-or-less a hipster term.

The fact that the term is now in common use doesn't really matter; it's kind of like calling a drink a 'cocktail' because it sounds a bit better and is more descriptive (i.e., 'drink' does not = 'cocktail').

Still, 'flower' just sounds pretentious.

When I set up tomato plants in the spring, you pluck the buds until the plant is big enough to handle the tomatoes. Then you let the flowers out so the bugs can pollinate, fruit, etc. To me, buds and flowers are different in the sense of time scale, like the difference between calves and cows, puppies and dogs, etc.

And I haven't smoked weed in almost 20 years, so I don't know when the optimal time is to pluck off the plant to get high (early bud or later flower).

It's an agricultural term. Dispensaries wanted to sound legit. 'We sell dank bud' doesn't sound real professional.

I do find it amusing some are arguing about it. I see several posters that should probably take a few bong rips before they post again.

His issues with it are that it wears off sooner, and because of the potency, it's way easier to fark up and O.D. Now all he can do is drink a case a day. I don't have any experience personally. Opiates don't really work on me except as an emetic, and then only if I take a dose that would cause most people to be found dead on the floor.

Yeah, I am not a user and opiates scare the f*ck out of me for lots of reasons. You mentioned the biggest (oops, dead!).
If the surgical staff had asked if I wanted some fentanyl, I would have delayed the surgery with the number of questions and guarantees I would ask for before consenting. So thankfully, they didn't ask, they just pumped me full of oblivion before cutting me open.

I hope your friend finds a measure of sobriety though. Addiction f*cking blows.
