OF ALL THE TIMES FOR MY WORK INTERNET FILTER TO BLOCK KOTAKU!

The game sounds terrible, but I still hope this isn't a sign of NOA getting more conservative with content. They were annoyingly strict in the 80s.

For now, I'm assuming if it was a AAA game like Bayonetta, they'd have no problem with it, but aren't going to be as lenient with shovelware.

Kotaku is writing an article about a shovelware game called "Hot Tentacle shooter" where you can shoot tentacles strategically placed over anime girls, to reveal nudity.

It has uncensored nipples, and Nintendo is pulling the game from their shop because of it.

"But but but what about Witcher 3 which has sex scenes?"

That's basically it.

Nintendo is very conscious of its family-friendly image, and many Nintendo Switch owners are children. So that's likely the reason why the publisher is taking a harder stance on adult content compared to Steam's hentai free-for-all.

That's been true since the Wii and even partially the Gamecube. Do parents not bother setting up parental controls so their kids CAN'T see the stuff on the store or buy it? Is it really that difficult for Nintendo to force parents to actually do something to control the content of the media these kids consume?

/who am I kidding, parents weren't paying attention to Youtube's algorithm dumping their kids in front of videos they should never see and are only made to take advantage of the algorithms
//and parents only cares when other people had to point out Youtube was doing this

It's been true since the NES. Nintendo (in America, at least) used to be really heavy-handed at avoiding anything controversial. Sexy stuff was right out and almost anything remotely religious was changed for the US, although the religious policy was pretty inconsistent.

Exile on Sega Genesis had Christian references and crucified people taken out for the USA release too. They also changed the healing items names, in the original version they were called real drug names like Heroin ect and they changed it to stuff like "Heart Poison"

Prior to this the Switch has had several games on their marketplace that have showed nudity. I believe even some Steam nixed, mostly because the Nintendo eShop pretty much lets any POS game on their service. Honestly don't know how they enforce their content restriction on the device for the eShop, but for the Switch they've been pretty hands off about what content can be sold on there.

Bayonetta's development is funded by Nintendo anyhow. The new game will actually have a selectable modesty mode where the special moves will be less revealing.

Yeah, but it's stupid that I can fire off weapons that will kill a deathclaw in one shot, but the same thing against a kid and they just duck for a second then scoot off.

I have the right to kill virtual children to avoid breaking immersion.

Yeah, that? It's all bullshiat.

The Switch store is chick full of this anime/porn bullshiat. It's a garbage store, and why I played my Switch maybe half a dozen times. Sure, Nintendo has a ton of stuff, but a good portion is some kind of shiat just like this. I'm actually selling my Switch. My SteamDeck arrives today.

The dirty little secret of Nintendo that doesn't get nearly enough press is like 80% of the store is pure shovelware. I am really surprised Nintendo has let so much trash just accumulate. And amongst all that shovelware is a metric ton of "visual novels", most of which if they don't have nudity, come darn close. And they all feature sexual themes. I would have never imagined Nintendo would still be holding on to a morality clause after what I've seen in there. I figured they just gave up. And I still kinda believe that cause this article only mentions one game. For all we know the dev just pisssed off Nintendo. Unless they announce they are killing like 200 visual novels in the store, they don't care.

Yeah, but if it starts affecting sales they'll ease off like they did with Mortal Kombat back in the 90s.  The SNES version of the first game didn't have any blood at all because of their policy about graphic violence.  But when the Genisis version kicked their asses in sales they decided to let the blood flow freely for the 2nd game.

Konami removed a lot of blood and Christian imagery from Castlevania games ported to the west. The intro to Super Castlevania IV has blood dripping into a pool for Japan, but not for the international release. Crosses in the graveyard are removed for the international release. Lots more. Doesn't affect the gameplay and it's weird because Castlevania III opens with Trevor standing below a giant cross (though that game also has changes.)

The weird thing is that the BMXXX - the ride around on bikes and look at some titties game - was only censored for the PlayStation release at Sony's demand. Yet the PlayStation 2 saw God of War, a first-party game with ample boobs.

They apparently haven't pulled any of the other anime tiddies games on there and supposedly there's some evidence that says this company did something dumb during the submission process then ran to Twitter when they were told they farked up. That said put me in the "Nintendo actually allows anime tiddies games?" column. They've had cheesecakey teasing games on the shop as far back as the Wii but I figured they still stopped short.
