Still Satisfactory.  My 32 Coal power plants have been chugging along nicely, just have to tidey up the architecture.  Just started building on an oil field to get to fuel, but I think I have to go expand my main assembly factory to start building the next tier items (Motors, reinforced frames, ai limiters, etc)  I may build a second coal plant of 16 generators, so I know I won't run out for a while.  I hate power issues with the passion of a thousand burning suns.

It's starting to clean up, so maybe next week I'll be able to start posting some screenshots.

Finished replaying Watch Dogs 2. Saw that the first one and the most recent one are on sale in the Xbox store so I'm thinking I might pick them up because I haven't played the first one in forever and I haven't played the new one yet.

I have been on a Far Cry kick lately. Started up New Dawn.

I also keep buying roguelites/likes for some reason. I'm not even a big fan of these games.

Finished Assassin's Creed: Rogue when I got tired of the side activities and decided to rush the remaining story. I think the side activities in Black Flag were better, honestly. Maybe it's because Rogue had the DLC that just gave you the result of some of those side activities?

Started up AC: Unity, but only played a bit so far. It's having a few weird performance issues, but I got distracted with something else, so haven't played much more.

I started up a new play-through of Papers, Please after watching a streamer be painfully bad at it. Just slow, and confused, and... It hurt.

I've mostly been plugging away at Deathloop this week.  It's an interesting concept, and pretty well executed.  And when not playing that, I've been into Metal Hellsinger, which is a better version of BPM.  Kind of like Painkiller with rhythm.

I also managed to finish my life goal of getting every mech in Mechwarrior Online.

Games I return to often...  Wasteland and Ultima 1,3 and 4.  Old arcade games of course.  Crysis and Half-Life 1/2 get replayed every few years.

Speaking of Super Mario, if you have Super Mario Maker 2, this guy made an entire game's worth of levels intended to effectively be Super Mario Bros. 5.

THANK YOU, MY FRIEND!!

I am on World 5 and it is absolutely SPECTACULAR!!

Expertly crafted levels. Seriously, fantastically uniform and consistent quality. Not a hyperpowered challenge like Super Expert levels. A very fun and enjoyable experience that goes up in difficulty in even increments.

I recommend to everyone.

Swung by Gamestop after getting a crown today and picked up LoH: Trails from Zero. They still haven't finished the PC gaming display and it's been over a week. I know, I know: It's Gamestop, so why expect things to be done timely? Other than that, still figure things out on the GPD XP Plus. Right now I am having to redo all the Saturn files as RetroArch (and Yaba Sanshiro) don't like how they are set up at the moment, so .CHD it is.

As for the QOTW: usually a Lunar game or Military Madness are my most offend repeated games.

And AgentKGB, that PC Engine LT was the one PC Engine item I always wanted by never got my hands on. One day though....one day...

Thanks. I'll give it a look, though that might take a bit as converting these Saturn files is moving at a snail's pace and I don't want to do too much on this PC to slow it down.

So, I've been spending this week preparing things with my Twitch setup (https://twitch.tv/lost_limey), which has consisted of two main things:

1. Moving from Twitch Studio to OBS Studio
2. Testing my capture card so I can stream consoles.

As part of that second one I was able to stream from my Switch, specifically, some Pokémon Shield. I finished up in Spikemuth and earned my Dark gym badge. Just the Dragon gym badge before I can hit the Champion Challenge. I really need to catch and level up a couple of Fairy and Ice types for it.

Further testing with a Wii HDMI adapter and the capture card also looked good. To that end, I played a tiny bit of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword using the WiiMotion Plus controls. Not much of it, just enough to do a little bit of tutorial on jumping/climbing, meeting Zelda and discovering that my Loftwing was missing.

Back on the PC, after finishing the base game of Dragon Age Inquisition, I started on the DLC, specifically, the Jaws of Hakkon. Initially, my main warrior, Cassandra wasn't available because she was the new Divine. After I asked nicely:
Fark user imageView Full Size

She rejoined the party, and we've gotten high approval from the Avvar of Stone-Bear Hold in the Frostback Basin. We've taken on most of the followers of the eponymous Hakkon, and I'm currently getting stuck in the Old Temple and getting destroyed by Gurd Harofsen and company.

So I switched to an entirely different RPG. Specifically Final Fantasy XIV. I had been stuck on a post-Shadowbringers Solo Duty where you play as Estinien. I'd effectively been paying $15 a month to fail at that one quest. Thankfully I got through it thanks to one of my Free Company friends talking me through the quest, they're a ringer. I'm still in the liminal quests between Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Fark user imageView Full Size

I've also taken down the Ruby Weapon in one of the side quests. I'm enjoying being in The First and Eorzea again.

I also fired this up after a few months:
Fark user imageView Full Size

And literally all the decks I had built for Magic: the Gathering - Arena were no longer legal in standard, so I've deleted all the decks I had and am just playing using the free preconstructed decks, and just grinding cards and coins. I'll probably enter a couple of the draft events to get some cards to build decks with. I also just bought a trio of physical Dominaria United booster packs as well. I need to sort out my actual cards and build my Minotaur Tribal Commander deck.

I've also become entrapped by the Skinner box that is Disney Dreamlight Valley. I've freed Ursula, unlocked this angry avian:

And I've been able to have Mickey communicate with the after-image "ghost of Minnie:
Fark user imageView Full Size

On top of that, I've freed Anna from the Frozen Realm and am now crafting enough to bring Elsa across or build a raft for Goofy. The raft probably has priority.

Although this weekend, I'm probably going to play at least Act II of Return to Monkey Island and stream some of the Bounty Hunter class story in The Old Republic for my Star Wars Saturday stream.

Mostly co-op Stardew Valley with my 11yo. Through all the games I've played over the years, Penny has always been my favorite but she's always been my mistress. Finally gonna make us official the next time it rains and I get a Mermaid's Pendant to give her! Other than that, 4-way Screencheat with the family and trying to complete more stories in Road 96. Enjoying that game way more than I was expecting. Also, really really really stoked for Scorn coming to GamePass next week. It looks like someone tossed Hellraiser II and Aliens in a blender and made a FPS from it.
QotW: Chill is the correct answer

Realized I can't really run a newer 30XX card or those newfangled ARC cards in my old rig that currently sports a 1060, so I'm totes buying a used 2070 Super on ebay and that's never not sketchy, so wish me luck.

Playing currently Spaceward Ho!(4.0), Sins of a Solar Empire, Last Call BBS, No Man's Sky, and more than likely will be playing one of the trucking sims over the weekend.

More Control.  Deadbeat janitor went on vacation so I have to hunt his incompetent ass down.

Tried Supraland.  Started strong, but the first person platforming to snag the gun really took the wind out of my sails.  If it's giving me headaches this early, I'll probably bail before the end.

Otherwise, doing the DLC puzzles for Glass Masquerade.

I started up AI Somnium Files, it's certainly a visual novel. Haven't gotten far and have avoided spoilers. Also still dipping into Slay the Spire with a run or two, I cannot play Ironclad very well, gotten further with the Silent and Defect. Mostly because I am a terrible hoarder and I forget good synergy you can get from Curse/injury cards. Might play more Stranger of Paradise as apparently the update file for Ghosts of Tsushima is too big for my Pro's available space. Oh, and I 100% the Cowabunga collection, the fighting games they had on it sucked so much. Only ever played the arcade beat'em ups.

Still pushing through Xenoblade Chronicles 2, though after reaching Chatper 8 I broke from it to play Torna: The Golden Country which is a bit rougher going because I am not on a New Game+ where I can roflstomp everything on my way to the end.  It is at least a nice shift in gameplay and some story that I had not seen before.

Completed Return to Monkey Island last week.  I miss old-school adventure games.

Games to which I return?  Mega Man 2, Metroid, Super Metroid.

More Slay the Spire when I am bored and only have my phone. Though I have come to the conclusion that I am really bad at it (can't get past ascension 4 on any character). Started up Cult of the Lamb last night and cleared out all of the materials from the camp before advancing, so all my cultists are assigned to praying.

No D&D last week since the wife and I went out to celebrate 20 years of dating.

QOTW: Hmm. Probably Link to the Past.

I started messing around with Slay the Spire and it was strangely addicting. Had a bunch of very bad runs before I started thinking more strategically and finally got my first "win" (beating Act 3 boss) with The Silent. I'm gonna keep trying with the other characters, but i feel like i still need to work on fundamentals if I ever have any chance of progressing. Shame I have the PS4 version because the Switch one would be much nicer for portability...

On the Switch front I've been SMB3DW+BFing and it's solid. Just scored Guacamelee for ~$3 and might start that tonight.

Backlog continues to grow, though...

Ive played nothing but old games I return to this week.

The usual Wreckfest nearly nightly, because survival horror racing never gets old.

And Quake Ray Traced (or just partly hyperlink the phrase I want you to, that's fine too I guess Fark...) which isn't as stark a difference as his Doom (1993) Ray Traced mod, but still very cool none the less. Only complaint is the 'fog' in some levels.
I suppose I can also see why they used Q2 as the official demo for path tracing in an old game over Q1.

And speaks of Quake...grab the Brutalist Map Pack (...again Fark? Why the f*ck can't you hyper link the entire phrase I've asked you to when using mobile?)..anyway, get the Brutalist Map pack a try.

It says to use quakespasm, I couldn't figure out how to get it to run in quakespasm and there's zero documentation. Thought I did it right, loaded console and typed -game qbl like I should and nothing happened.
Seriously, quake may be highly moddable, but it's always been one of the most confusing games to actually get custom mods to work in for me...so people smarter than I should have no issue.
However, if you own a copy of Quake on Steam and it's been update to include the KEX engine build, you can just drop the Brutalist mod files into your Remaster folder for the Steam Quake install and it works just fine.

Currently playing through all the story content in GW2 , early into the Heart of Thorns story almost got my glider training just a little more xp to go. Be interesting to find out what I can do with just gliding.

Not an old game by any means compared to what others will talk about here but I do often go back to Cities Skylines and just relax as my city grows.

I can't f*cking wait. My GPU is ready to melt.

What I'm most excited about is that they made that using the RTX Remix software, meaning HL2 can be run through it for the same.
I'd be happy with just some upscaled cleaned up textures and lighting/shadow model swapped out for RayTracing.
Wait...this means Black Mesa should be able to be pumped through it too.

envirovore: I suppose I can also see why they used Q2 as the official demo for path tracing in an old game over Q1.

Q2 is just new enough where some quick texture and viewmodel touchups can have a decent impact, it also has passable indoor/outdoor areas where vanilla Q1 didn't so they couldn't flex with that global time of day lighting thing

I went back to Lost Ark this week.  While there's lots of grind and the story is nonsense, it still is a really solid ARPG.  Combat is an absolute blast and when it kicks into full "epic battle" mode during dungeons or scripted sequences, it can be truly jaw dropping.

I'm less crazy about the bazillion currencies and some really nonsensical systems.  I have no idea WTF engraving is about.  It seems rather important, but I can't wrap my head around it and the in-game explanations are terrible.  I do understand that it becomes quite P2W at higher levels, but I don't expect it'll keep my interest long enough to get to that point.

I figure nostalgia is a big factor in my gaming choices, because I keep being re-drawn to the older games of my youth. Objectively, I know that my time would be better spent playing something new instead of a 4th (or 10th) playthrough of a SNES game, but I eventually just give in. Which is why I'm currently almost to the end of Secret of Mana.

I also listen to a lot of videogame music while I work. It helps me to tune out the outside world, and since there are no lyrics, it's not too distracting. I did however make a big mistake last week by adding this soundtrack to my playlist:

Heroes 3 of Might and Magic Soundtrack (ost) [complete / HD]
Youtube q43G9FTaomg

The urge to reinstall it is growing. I've actually logged on to my GOG account, but managed to retreat before downloading it. I know it's a losing battle, but I don't have time for this. I'll try to resist as long as I can.

Actually, I've posted the video here in an attempt to pass on the curse to one of you instead. Come on, click on it, I dare you.
