Loved it! Best episode of the series so far. Comedy was totally on point! Wonderful, organic feeling use of the 4th wall breaks.

A closer comparison might be Ally Mcbeal or LA Law in the MCU.  The interpersonal drama/comedy takes focus over both legal and superhero antics.

I haven't watched the new episode yet, but my current theory is that the reason House of the Dragon and Westworld Season 4 both blowed so many goats is because all the good sci-fi/fantasy TV writers were working on She Hulk and Andor.

That's basically the character. If anything, this MCU version is -toned down- from the comics version in regards to her recklessness.

Bringing in Daredevil reminded me of Boba Fett when they brought in The Mandalorian which saved the show.

For instance, if Jen is having a period, how does that affect She-Hulk?  Is she also having a period?  Does she have to get special giant tampons?  Is she moody and destroys lots of shiat (tricky, without writing offensive PMS clichés).  Or does the hulking process stop it and she stays hulked out for a week to avoid periods?  There's tons of daily stuff we don't think about that get complicated by being a Hulk.

I'm enjoying it, but they really messed up the pacing and narrative threads by pulling the origin flashback episode out of the middle and inserting it as the first. Things may have flowed better without the last minute shuffling. I think it's a fun show, and I hope they do another season.

I really like the MCU take on DD's yellow suit. It looks great, and the musical notes in the hallway scene were an excellent touch/callback to the Netflix series.

Also, TIL the difference between henchman and goon.

The very last Ribbit and Rip it really got me in the episode.  I know some people who watch things in the MCU are like "But where's the world ending whatever" and I'm over here "You know what, I'd like to not have to deal with the end of the world and just do this nice thing here with Jen and her dad Coursin Larry.

I just wish that in the show, they would come up with a moment where she realizes how different her transformation is, and Bruce comes up with some kind of explanation... I know, nitpicking and all that.

But that is a great angle, I agree. Including her boss telling her that she only has the job if she appears as She-Hulk.

I mean, they were always idiots.  That was Jen's entire character arc for the first few years of comic appearances, that she suffered from almost toxic overconfidence once she became a hulk and had to struggle with whether it was just her being freed from her anxieties or if being a hulk was affecting her more than she wanted to admit.

Yeah, It makes no sense. Getting big muscles? That's the gamma radiation. But the hair style completely changing is just annoying. I mean, like I said, it's all marketing the ORIGINAL character, they just ignore it in the show though, and it bugs me on a deep internal level. Deep enough that it doesn't ruin the show in any way, it's just a loose end that bothers me.

you can accept her entire body transforming, but her hair doing the same thing is a bridge too far? I think that might be a you problem.

Very funny.  Especially the DD stuff.

I really enjoy the pencil-color art cards they play during the end credits - the one with DD meeting whatherface during his walk made me giggle.

Jen and She Hulk actually have completely separate hair.  Jen's hair gets sort of absorbed into She Hulk's mass, and She Hulk's own hair springs out from her own scalp.  And then when she reverts back, She Hulk's hair all falls out, while Jen's hair is released as She Hulk's mass reduces.

That's right, it's the real reason She Hulk has so much trouble with guys: She sheds.

The transformation is in part a reflection of the inner personality of the character.  Bruce would turn into a literal rage monster.  But Jens anger turns inward into a more confident version of who she wants to be seen as.

It's fun, and very tongue in cheek. There are a lot of fourth wall breaks. The CGI is still a bit off, which is distracting, but not too bad. It's a fun show, made more fun by the fact that they picked a little pixie to turn into the 7 foot tall green gal.

I very rarely turn into a rabid fanboy for anyone, but I gotta say Tatiana Maslany could make a dozen episodes of nothing but reading a phone book entertaining. And so far, this series only scratches the surface of her acting chops. I'd happily watch her in anything.

I love the whole gist of the show - how being a Super messes with everything in your normal day to day life.  It's a cool take that we saw a bit of with Hawkeye and also in the Incredibles, but not as deeply as with Jen.  There's just so much to work with the writers must be having a blast.

For instance, if Jen is having a period, how does that affect She-Hulk?  Is she also having a period?  Does she have to get special giant tampons?  Is she moody and destroys lots of shiat (tricky, without writing offensive PMS clichés).  Or does the hulking process stop it and she stays hulked out for a week to avoid periods?  There's tons of daily stuff we don't think about that get complicated by being a Hulk.

My only real issue is why does her hair change? Hulk pretty much has Mark Ruffalo's hair. I know that She-Hulk has always had long hair, but there is no logic for why she changes so drastically, compared to her cousin.

Actually, I CAN tell you why. They knew that She-Hulk wouldn't sell if she just looked like a female version of Hulk. Even though he just gets bigger and uglier, they knew that they'd need an attractive female if they wanted to sell the comic. I just wish that in the show, they would come up with a moment where she realizes how different her transformation is, and ...


Going back to this point, though: I know of at least one person that's refusing to watch it just because she doesn't look like a female version of Hulk. Like, her height is fine, but the fact that's she's a third of the width of Hulk annoys the shiat out of them.

Did Rob Liefeld ever draw She-Hulk?  No doubt that would send your friend straight over the edge.  I can't even imagine the twisted nightmare physiology he'd come up with for a 9 foot tall woman.

Yeah, It makes no sense. Getting big muscles? That's the gamma radiation. But the hair style completely changing is just annoying. I mean, like I said, it's all marketing the ORIGINAL character, they just ignore it in the show though, and it bugs me on a deep internal level. Deep enough that it doesn't ruin the show in any way, it's just a loose end that bothers me.


Boy, I hope they fire the whole writing staff for that blunder.
