There's enough damage in Ft Meyers to keep the media happy.

My question: why didn't Biden just nuke the hurricane before it came ashore?

Why does the media keep using facts to push their agenda? That's unfair!

Sorry, Ron, in the GQP reality is whatever the craziest meme says it is, so you are officially a liberal beta cuck who wore the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader boots Biden told you to wear and danced for your nickels.

These are the same people who use the teachings of Jesus on helping the poor to screw over the poor, so par for the course.

I'm just glad he was giving an interview so he didn't stop recovery work of others for four hours for a photo opportunity. Also surprised he didn't mention to donate to his wife's disaster relief fund.

Well, I wanted it to hit Trump and DeSantis.  I'd have been very happy with that.  Tiny, but powerful hurricanes that just took those two and flung their corpses to parts unknown where they were eaten by gators.

Ron doesn't care about bad weather hitting Florida, either. He was practically daring it to start Raining Men.

The storm could have easily hit Tampa and done to Tampa exactly what it did to FT Meyers Beach, Pine Island, Sanibel etc.

The continued warnings about how bad it could be for Tampa from news agencies was just that, repeated warning from NOAA.

As a former Public Works Director and EOC commander for Key West for 10 years and having had to deal with 6 hurricanes during that time, you cannot overstate the danger to property and life. But you will be accused of doing exactly that time and again, even when you are right and the worst actually happened.

If you give people even so much as a "current models suggest the storm may jog 2 miles north from the prior predicted storm path" many will use it as both a reason not to bother prepping or evacuating, and beat you up with it "you said the storm was going to hit further North! why didn't you tell us it was going to be this bad!"

There is no good time as an EOC commander or politician to call for a mandatory evacuation. If you call for evacuating all non residents (tossing the tourist out of town) 4 days ahead of storm (this is the latest you can reasonably do it to give people time to change and arrange travel plans, get them out of the way so the locals can prep for the storm) and the storm near misses or misses all together the local Hotel Motel Association and the Chamber of Commerce and every mom and pop B&B and coffee shop with want your head on a silver platter for costing them business for "nothing".

If you want until 36-48 before landfall to call for the first evacuations, and the storm hits, they want to hang you for not giving them enough notice to evacuate and secure they property. If you make the evacuations voluntary and not mandatory you will be sued by every family member of a person that got so much as splinter walking on the debris that used to be their trailer for not telling them it was going to be a 'major' storm and they had to leave for their own safety.

When you tell them if they do not evacuate that there will be no 911 service or any fire or emergency services of any kind once the winds reach 50kts and until they fall back down under 50kts, hundreds and thousands that did not evacuate will call into the EOC for everything from asking us to bring them bottled water because 'they didn't have time to go shopping before the storm hit' to screaming at you to restore the electricity 'that they pay so much for so it has to be working immediately' and begging for help because a tree fell on their house or there is 4' of ocean in their living room and their car is underwater so they can't leave. The city will be sued by surviving family members, most that have never lived in a costal community that gets sever storms, for not providing 911 services during 110kt winds and 5' of ocean surge to their parents that refused to evacuate and dad would still be with us if etc.

Toss in the politicians, all of which use these events as photo opps and cudgels to beat up hard working city staff, electrical workers, debris removal contractors, FEMA, Red Cross and even NOA for not "doing enough" to warn, prepare and clean up after a storm.

One year, I managed 4 hurricanes in Key West, including Wilma that put 6-8' of ocean on the island and flooded 1 in 4 homes with at least 1' of ocean. I never worked so hard in my life, I personally managed a staff of 125 city employees, some 50 or so that had lost their own homes but came to work every day to help their neighbors recover instead of cleaning up their own places, and more than 300 contractors. The FEMA paperwork alone is enough to make a person consider eating a gun. There is no way to evaluate, engineer and contract repairs fast enough to make ANYONE happy. No matter how fast we got a road open, or power restored, it was never fast enough. I was hung in effigy on the Whtie Street Pier by a group of people that did yoga on the pier every sunrise because 2 weeks after the hurricane I 'had not bothered to get the pier repaired' and still had it closed to the public. I was screamed at by parents at a city hall meeting because "Why were the baseball fields not repaired with new sod, markings, new score board, new bathrooms and concession stand yet!?!?! It has been 5 WEEKS since the storm passed!?!?! YOU ARE RUIINING MY 11 YEAR OLD SONS CHANCE OF GETTING CALLED UP TO A BIG LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM!!!! It was the most thankless job I have ever had.

Same for any Farker that is a Public Health Administrator.  Substitute Pandemic for Hurricane and the issues and reactions are very similar.  Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.  But you do what you need to do, because if you don't, people die.

It actually mimicks Limbaugh/Fox talking points from a few years ago: this idea of talking about hurricanes and how they're getting stronger because of climate change is actually "liberals" cheering them on to be as destructive as possible on as large a city as possible -- so that their "agenda" can be furthered.

Its sick -- and intended to be a deflection of that conversation, as well as a way of dehumanizing the academics, scientists and everyday people who are legitimately concerned and documenting these phenomenon.

Because Fox is the legit voice of the Republican Party there has to be a "both-sides" equivalent -- therefore all the MSM outlets that actually employ journalistic standards, who in turn ask difficult questions, report on Republican malfeasance honestly, are all one big cabal, marching in lockstep and at the behest of the Biden socialist National "Regime."

Its not acceptable that only the Republicans are acting like authoritarians.

As usual, its all projection.

fark Ron DIsantis, but fark reporters as well.

I have witnessed the same reporters going after some entity for changing course on something after the same reporter criticized the original course of action. May headline "Agency X is not approving applications for Y fast enough". July headline "Agency X has approved so many applications for Y, some say too quickly".

So, no matter what, someone is gonna say you evacuated too early, you evacuated too late, you evacuated unnecessarily, OMG you FORCED evacuations, OMG why did you NOT FORCE evacuations. fark all the after-disaster, ambulance/blame chasing reporters.

We have built a massive amount of our infrastructure and have chosen to concentrate our people in areas where they are pretty much guaranteed to be farked up by a Hurricane or earthquake every 20-30 years and everybody is always like "why did you not do something?" The other significant portion of the population decided to move to a motherfarking desert, and continue to move there, while we know water is pretty much going bye bye in those areas. Then, when everything comes to head, here come the reporters with their stories about how "officials failed to act" or whatever.

/sorry for rant, bad 48 hours with a situation like this where everyone is a motherfarking critic in regard to disaster/emergency/pandemic response

Why are there SO many people lately, Republicans for example, who seem unable to try to do something constructive? Instead they have this need to continuously biatch and blame someone for random crap, and block any efforts to make things better.  What drug is in the water to make everyone so negative? Negative ions? Is it just the latest fad to be a jerk?
Hell. I am as pessimistic as you can get, and also kind of a jerk, and even I think this crap is too extreme.
