So DUI arrest numbers will plummet as domestic violence skyrockets? For PA that sounds a lot like a Tuesday ;)

PA has some of the weirdest Liquor laws.

I had to go through the line twice while staying there for a week to buy my beer because of the limits

and then i had to go to another store for Liquor bottles.  3 trips.

You jest, but PA is probably one of the few places you can get Pappy at a reasonable price. You just have to be fortunate enough to win the lottery first.

I won it once about a decade ago. Worth it at the time, but not at todays prices.

I was in a PA Fine Wine and Spirits earlier tonight. The guy in front of me at the register had a box of Franzia in hand and then asked the cashier if there were any more in the back.

She said "yeah, how many do you want?"

He replied, "how many do you have?"

Her, "nine."

Him, "I'll take 'em."

I'm really curious as to how many boxes he would have settled on had they had significantly more in stock.

I don't want to judge, but it seems as if there wasn't an upper limit in mind.

If you had gone to a distributor, you could have bought as much beer as you wanted in one trip.  Still a 2nd trip to the liquor store though.  Yes, our alcohol laws suck.

At least you can kinda get booze like normal these days. When I first moved to PA you could only get beer from the distributers by the case or more and overpriced six packs from the bar. Was recently in California and was amazed at how inexpensive booze was. I bought a half gallon of Knob Creek for less than a liter, I had to ask for a price check to confirm that it wasn't mislabeled. It was $43 vs. $70 in Ohio, fifth prices were comparable.

The Pappy was never available to begin with to the general public even through their lottery.  The PLCB has even managed to rig the drawings for hard to get bourbons such as Pappy.  And of course, they investigated themselves and found no wrong doing.

That's funny.  "You just have to be fortunate enough to win the lottery first"

I guess a 1 in 50,000 chance is better than nothing.  /s

1 in 50,000 is hyperbole.  I've won it.  And I've known several others who have won it.  Their allotment has definitely decreased over the years, but it's still the most affordable option around.

However, the oversight in not having a consumer friendly option for leftover bottles was definitely shiatty.

Not remotely close to being hyperbole.  Your anecdotal story about you and "several others" has been duly noted.

If you did win you may have actually mentioned which one.  (now go run along and google how many people enter the lottery every year)

OK, maybe I was being slightly hyperbolic with that statement.

But I've entered that farking lottery every year for as long as they've offered it as well as other people I know and not one of us have won jack shiat.

Slightly?  The article you linked listed basically a 1 in 18 chance of getting a bottle of 12 yr.

Of course the 12 yr. had the largest allotment (999 bottles).  But looking back at my email, it looks like they had 74 bottles of 20 yr. available.  If there were roughly the same amount of entries then that would put the odds at about 1 in 250.

I'm not even saying it's likely you'll get the chance to buy through the lottery.  It's just the cheapest you'll be able to, that's all.  And the scandal involving PLCB employees snagging them for themselves was for unclaimed bottles only.

I stopped entering when they required pre-payment and choosing which bottles you wanted up front.  Pappy has only gone way up in price in recent years, much more than the year I won.  FWIW, that was mid-2010s and I bought a bottle of 20yr.
