I once overheard a Kentucky resident on a flight out of Kentucky say that Kentucky was 51st on the states they'd want to live in.

I swear the GOP in Kentucky have rigged the Elections to favor them in that state.

But then I see the people living there and realize, nope, that is their safe space

At this point it probably just improves Republican voter turn-out.

Gawdammit, Republicans live to project, don't they? But that one... that one could be cast on the side of a mountain, or the Moon.

I've seen a number of campaign ads by his opponent, Charles Booker. He seems like an idealistic, well spoken, profoundly decent man who truly wants what's best for his state. The fact that the polls show the majority of the people of Kentucky looking at the choice between these two candidates, and saying "nope, I want Rand F*cking Paul instead" tells you a lot about just what kind of assholes they really are.

//I know, I know, "but you couldn't possibly expect us to vote for a Democrat!"
/"Paul might be a festering pustule that no one actually likes, but by gum he shore do trigger them gol' dern libs!"

It's painful. I moved to Louisville 6 years ago and it's an absolutely rocking place. Fantastic food, kind people, neat sights, drivable, neat neighborhoods with distinctive feels, and you're very connected to the people around you. It's just big enough not to be rural while small enough to not feel urban. It's got a wonderful mix of people.

But the politics... oh gods... if you don't have navel gazing liberals trying to figure out the next way to hornswoggle the conservatives into liking them, you get truly vile people acting like morons. And outside of the enclaves (Louisville, Lexington, and to a much lesser extent Bowling Green) you are in Alabama.

As a transperson, i've never felt more comfortable than in Louisville. But I don't want to go 20 miles in any direction unless I'm going hundreds because I don't trust any of 'em. And they feel the same way about here!

And then you get the king bastards, Paul and McTurtlehead. Life-long pols with no morals, no action. And the Dems response is "Mom and a Fighter Pilot" and "Hood to the Holler". Neither had a chance in hell, and neither get any coverage outside of occasional reporting on the local news - not about their positions but that they're someplace. Meanwhile, Rand and Mitch blanket the airwaves with commercials that go from the fact-free to the lie-rich.

I love this area. I have grown here more than 20 years back home in upstate NY. But I don't honestly know if I can continue being here. I just am so sickened.

::Sigh::

Well, at least we have Governor Andy, he's pretty fantastic. Especially during the Pandemic, that man kept us sane.

Booker is a failing Democratic candidate who is getting more desperate and trying to up the ante because it's almost certain he's going to lose.

It was funny to watch him pulling a stunt wearing a noose around his neck and criticizing Rand Paul for holding up anti-lynching legislation while omitting that Paul co-sponsored a new bipartisan version of the bill

I live in Omaha. Similar vibe, but our statewide pols are 100% garbage right now. It's sad that I miss the days of our blue dogs. Unicameral is the only thing saving us from Gilead, but we'll see how that works out after redistricting/midterms

Oh yes through the "leadership" from Kentucky rand here and turtle boy - along with the congressional shytweasles  has produced a sheer boon for their state over the last twenty years or so, right? I'm sure the citizens of that great commonwealth are the highest educated, financially secure, and physically sound amongst all the states of the nation.

No?

Then what the fk have they been doing for you? Surely not making your lives better, so what have they been doing?

Well, in ol' rand's case her he's spent a lot of his time just being a dick to everyone and everything that falls under his jaundiced eye, while blaming all his shortcomings on someone else, but certainly not lifting a dmn finger to actually make anyone else's life tangibly better.

Why the fk not, anything's gotta be better then that.
Toss that slimy ferret topped little troll into the gutter where he belongs.
