See, if they had been holding the phone horizontally, they would've seen the telephone pole sooner.

Sergio Leone nods in approval.

i had this cheap pre-built plastic and foam rc plane (basically install motor and radio, rubber band the wings on, and go flying) I was tearing it up with (back and forth down the flight line, rolls, snap rolls, loops, immelmenns) and this old timer is flying his carefully built, balsa wood, and doped covered 'classic' plane

we crossed paths mid-air and both crashed and burned

sh*t happens, but I felt awful knowing the time he put into his model

Funnied because I'm imagining how HE told that story.

i apologized profusely when it happened, helped him recover some of his plane from the deeper brush (engine and radio are usually salvageable), but he was an old timer like I said, and he told me it was not his first mid-air, and he didn't think it wouldn't be his last

Not something a regular pilot gets to say. . .

Not an RC plane guy, but I do have two drones.   I couldn't imagine flying something without having that front facing camera view for reference.

I know that's how the hobby worked for decades, but it seems like a good safety feature moving forward.
