I will say after watching this episode that they are doing a helluva job building tension. There is a lot more to find out about these characters and their motivations, and I am expecting a great payoff. It's nice to competent Imperials too (talking about the ISB folks). Loving it so far!

I'm looking forward to the heist going sideways and what happens there. Also, wondering if the LT is planning on staying behind after it.

I'm really enjoying this show, which I've not been able to say about the other star wars shows. I've particularly enjoyed the dumb people going "it's too slow, i'm too dumb to understand all the talking they're doing, i need explosions and flashing lights because i'm an adult child"

Hey now, there's still enough adult child in me to chuckle at the crunch berries in blue milk...

I like it so far, and I think it will be even better binging it as a whole later on.

I'm guessing momma's boy and professional f*ck-up Syril Karn will have his mom help him fail up to a position in the ISB.. That seems to be where that storyline is going.

I like how her daughter has it completely backwards. Her father is a trophy husband concerned only with the power and wealth Mon Mothma's position affords them, while her mother's actually trying to do something important that's ultimately detrimental to her position.

But of course the daughter doesn't know that because she can't tell them she's building a rebellion.

I don't actually know how the ISB recruits, but I don't think he's placed highly enough for them to overlook that disaster.

I'm guessing he's going to get pulled working security for Uncle Harlow, and I'm guessing Uncle Harlow is going to be at least Black Sun adjacent.

/Or maybe he'll end up playing bodyguard/driver for Mon Mothma?

Hmmm, Black Sun, that could be a good angle. But man, the guy is just soooo incompetent and incapable of seeing anything beyond his petty little agenda. His supervisor made the right call when he told him to file the killings on Morlana One as misadventure and close the book.
What does Corporal McDipshiat do? The exact opposite of what he was ordered to do and worse, he f*cks it up, royally.
I don't see him as having learned any lessons or introspection, he's acting petulant and like he's the victim.

Oh, he's totally focusing on Andor as the cause of all his problems. Ooh, actually... Whatever his next job is, Andor happens to be there and he (Karn) farks up his job trying to arrest Andor and gets fired again. And then the same thing happens a third time in the finale?

While that's all true, and I agree that Karn sucks, I also understand his vendetta after meeting his mother. I'd harbor some rage at having to spend more time with her too. Of course the blame is misplaced, he's to blame, not Cassian.

The daughter just seems like a normal teenager. And Mon Mothma probably did want her daughter in the car for appearances sake (although less for the social aspect the daughter suspects and more for providing cover for committing treason).

I donno... I was imagining her freaking the fark out being surrounded by Palpatine sycophants, being scared by innocuous questions and normal small talk. It seemed entertaining in my mind. My buddy is a huge lore nerd and he said one of the characters mentioned is Palpatine's concubine and mildly force sensitive. Probably a story line they didn't need, but I would like to have seen it anyhow.

That's one thing I like about this show. They're showing that she's wheeling and dealing too. She doesn't even try to deny the accusation, she just says something like "that's so hurtful."

It's plodding.  I hope it's going somewhere, but they are taking there time getting there.  It reminds me of a movie or tv show that has a very limited budget (though that is not true here).  We've had 3 tie fighters over 5 episodes and zero Storm Troopers.  No, not everything has to be blam, blam, but we are nearly at the halfway point and very little has happened.  If there was some depth behind the plodding that would make it better, but so far not so much.

There are 2 12 episode seasons planned.  If this season continues as it has it will be about the payroll heist and that is it.

Said in other threads and will say it again, there is very little about it that makes it a SW series.  The closest it gets is every planet that gets name dropped is usually from something else.  Other than that it is generic space series.  For everyone that says it is the best SW series ever I doubt they'd say something similar if it didn't have the SW halo around it (obviously it wouldn't be the best SW series not being SW, but rather the gushing praise).  It is the one thing an adventure series product never should be:  boring.  It's not confusing, there just isn't much going on to date.

It's marketed as a political/spy drama, and that's what we're getting. There's more depth than anything in Kenobi or Boba Fett, and while I enjoy the Mandalorian more, this is written with a whole hell of a lot more skill.

Also, I donno how you get the idea that nothing has happened... a whole lot has happened.

We're getting the payroll heist next week (I mean, probably. I guess they could randomly flash back to something else, but I assume the majority of the episode is going to be the heist, the heist going sideways, and them escaping somewhere). That leaves the rest of the season for other stuff: We haven't seen Saw yet, for one thing.

As far as the lack of Storm Troopers, the reason they're missing isn't discussed yet but it's possible the show's actually making them be middle-tier elite troopers again (Less elite than the Death Troopers/Purge Troopers, but more elite than line army/navy Troopers). We've had Imperial Army Troopers, and more ISB than anywhere else in Star Wars so far. We don't have many TIEs, but we also haven't had the Empire need to put out air/space craft yet.

Look, going the obvious route is boring. I mean, yeah, the show is probably going to kill them off, but I want to come up with more interesting things that aren't going to happen. Like in the middle of the heist, it comes up that Nemik is a deep-cover ISB agent, but Skeen kills him because he's working for Saw to scout talent for his cell.

Actually, I was kind of hoping that the 'twist' would be that the heist goes off without a hitch. It would be refreshing just to have a cool heist. That's what all the Ocean's movies are, and they're fun enough.

Because even if it goes well, all of them are now on all kinds of security footage, the officer dude has to go on the lamb (or try to keep his cover?!), and Luthan and crew are in danger of being found out.

Also, we're they implying that the lady characters were going to be the "imperial engineer" that's coming to visit?

It looks like a ton of people are really pissed about it. Not enough laser swords, I guess?

I loved the tie fighter flyby in this episode. The pilot is just dicking with them in this huge machine that could kill them in an instant. The axe forgets. Han Solo or Luke Skywalker have a big blasty ships to fight back with, but to the average person a tie fighter is a terrifying foe.

That would be a twist, but I don't think it will happen. Be pretty cool, though. Officer dude might be planning to stay behind, he carefully set up cover for the minimum manning in the vault to be someone else's idea.

I think the lady characters might be planning to assault the airbase, honestly. Actually, no, that's what they'll be doing: Airbase will be emptied to respond to the heist, so they'll attack the remainder and steal something from there, an important ship or some data or something, what Luthan actually wants out of this.

Well a fighter plane is a scary thing.

The only argument I have against the show is the perceived velocity from the ground should be much higher...

/CSB: having a f111 do a full power attack run over your head at low level will leave a mark...

I loved the tie fighter flyby in this episode. The pilot is just dicking with them in this huge machine that could kill them in an instant. The axe forgets. Han Solo or Luke Skywalker have a big blasty ships to fight back with, but to the average person a tie fighter is a terrifying foe.

The TIE scream when it flies past them is so much more intimidating than usual, under those circumstances.  Almost makes you imagine an Imperial engineer designing it with that kind of effect in mind, as opposed to just an interesting sound.  Loved it.

There is not enough discussion of this.

I was ten years old in 1977, so I am familiar with the TIE fighter.

This freaking show has resuscitated them. They were scary back in the day. Now they are sphincter-locking terrifying. I actually tensed up hearing that TIE in the distance right before the flyby. Superb.

The Silver Mullet: I will say after watching this episode that they are doing a helluva job building tension. There is a lot more to find out about these characters and their motivations, and I am expecting a great payoff. It's nice to competent Imperials too (talking about the ISB folks). Loving it so far!

Enjoying the build and the character development so far. Definitely liking seeing more to the Empire than just Stormtroopers, especially since the ISB was so well portrayed in the EU novels.

I did think this could have used a little action though just to separate the pacing. Definitely seems like Junior Officer Numbnuts is going to end up in the ISB's lady's radar shortly to cause a stink.
