We went to Pere Lachaise to visit Oscar's grave and passed the unremarkable Morrison's grave. Go see the Big Duck. the Little Duck, The Mucky Duck. Check the soles of your shoes. Or that odd bump behind your ear. Anything, really.

So far I've seen a big LL Bean boot, a giant pistachio, the Jolly Green Giant, and... shoot... something else big.  not my brain right now.

I love the weird/silly/goofy roadside attractions.  Some can be underwhelming, but others are pretty cool.  I haven't counted the 50,000 silver dollars, but it may be pretty accurate.  Corn palace? Corny, but the murals on the outside were pretty cool.  Sadly the biggest ball of twine in Minnesota was too far out of the way on our most recent cross-country drive.

At some point soonish I'll see the Potato Museum on my way to or from Craters of the Moon National Monument, and see if there's something else weird on the way.  Of course, it had a big potato in front of the building.

How far is this from East Egg? Gatsby and I might swing by on our way back from the city.

No, thank you. I  would rather swing by the Bulldog Cafe. That place rocks!

Pfft. I've been to WALL DRUG. Everything else pales in comparison. It's bittersweet however, because once you've seen WALL DRUG you know the highest peak has been climbed. That there are no greater adventures awaiting. You stand triumphant, but you mourn the fact that there are no more worlds to conquer. Alas.

I've visited the Big Duck. It seems like it's mainly a gift shop, but I visited it in 2020 so it wasn't open.

I was there in 1999, and it's just a granite cube with his name.

There was still a bored cop standing nearby, because people are gonna people.

They had to put a plexiglass cover over Wilde's tombstone. People would put on lipstick and kiss the stone, leaving lip prints behind. The cemetery folks would pressure wash the stone every year, but that was causing too much damage.

Morrison's grave is fenced-off now.  The plexiglass on Wilde's grave remains as well.  There's nothing really covering people like Chopin, Molière, Piaf, or Gertrude Stein though.

When I was a kid back in the 1970's it was a place to buy fresh eggs, I remember going a few times with my parents.

There's a grave of Eloise and Abelard that's like something [I imagine] you'd see on acid. I've never heard anyone mention it. I'm not sure, now that I mention it, if it exists.

My memory was considerably more exotic than the reality. It's still impressive.
