That's too specific to be an accident. What's the message they're trying to send?

A simple plan...for simple people.

Yeah, it seems like this kind of thing (images of Russian 'stuff' in GQP campaign ads) is happening too often to be simple errors. I know, don't ascribe to malice that which can be explained by incompetence. Still...

You can't do that by accident.

There must be hundreds of ships on those image licensing sites, or public domain. You can't accidentally choose this one

I think the simple answer is that whoever the RNC uses as a media consultancy does all of their image searches on Yandex.

Oh Fark Me

He got the idea to run while serving on an air craft carrier during the murder of George Floyd and the riots after.... he was basically outraged that the government officials weren't reacting harshly enough
Though I do have to ask if the reporter was trolling by saying the George Floyd murder or trying to give asshole here a fig leaf by making it sound like he was outraged by George Floyd dying
https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/navy-veteran-tom-weiler-challenging-rep-dean-phillips-for-us-house-seat/
If you read what he said it had nothing to do with Floyd dying and only was about the riots

Exactly.

I am confused. Because the only way it makes sense on any level is if it is accidental. But you can't, being a navy vet, make that mistake. Unless you're stupid enough to serve in the US Hou--

Oh, I seem to have discovered the fault.

2 modern American ships, 2 modern Russian ships, 1 modern Indian ship, and a retired American ship.  It isn't that hard to look at whatever website has the photograph in order to verify if it is one of ours or one of theirs.

My guess? His campaign manager commissioned this advertisement and probably used a conservative friendly company to do the work. I don't think it got much of a review before it went public.
Make of that what you will.
