Not only that, the same judge who quashed the subpoena is the one who issued the new order requiring testimony.

Never tick off a federal judge.

"The Court will not sanction a scheme where Paxton repeatedly labels his threats of prosecution as real for the purposes of deterrence and as hypothetical for the purposes of judicial review," Pitman wrote.

Have never understood people who try to avoid service. Like, it isn't going away, and they only have to serve you once. Also tends to piss off every professional involved, not least the judge.

Well, good. I'm glad the judge reconsidered.

The next morning, Pitman quashed the subpoena. But in Tuesday's order, he said he did so "on the assumption that counsel for Paxton had made candid representations to the Court ... only to learn later that Paxton failed to disclose Plaintiffs' repeated emails attempting to inquire as to whether Paxton could testify."

Okay, now what's the penalty for the counsel making clearly disingenuous statements to the judge? (I'd call it blatantly lying, but apparently they get benefit of the doubt)

So much corruption in one little story. And Texans like to fancy themselves a bunch of stand-up straight-shooters.

I took a big messy shiate last night that stank less than Ken Paxton.

He's a nightmare human being, supported by other nightmare human beings.  So transparently corrupt that there's no hiding it, but so successfully corrupt that the consequences are only BARELY starting to catch up to him.

Not really, no.  I've been a bit overwhelmed by Republican corruption cases, lately.

Arresting charging and convicting a state Attorney General for criminal malfeasance is not without recent precedent.

I'm pretty sure my brain has reached the physical limit of how many of these stories I can remember.

I need a spreadsheet and a bibliography and an assistant at this point.

He seemed REALLY pissed when the plaintiffs lawyers presented all the receipts showing all the attempts they had been making to attempt to serve him, something the defenses attorneys had made seem like only happened once.

But these aren't normal times.

Honestly.

I was thinking that a proper database would be easier to navigate than a spreadsheet.

No snark, but that's never been true. The big states have always had national exposure. I remember seeing Ann Richards on TV back in 80's when I lived in California, and EVERYONE knew who the mayor of NYC was.

Timelines and receipts are how legal cases like this get won.
