Well, I suppose that means my days of not caring about Blake Bortles have come to an end.

I hope he enjoys his retirement and finds something fulfilling to keep himself busy.

Never forget the 2017 Jaguars were on the verge of greatness and Tom Coughlin almost single-handedly destroyed that franchise.

Now now that may come off as criticism and questioning the Tomlin's greatness isn't taken well.

Let's face it:  Goodell didn't want a Superb Owl showdown between Blake Bortles and Nick Foles.  He probably feared a ratings disaster.  And it came damn close to happening, if not for referee farkery to close out the AFC Championship Game.  Whether the order came from the commish, or Brady's check cleared, or both, we'll never know.

Or....yet another playoff performance where the O, led by another Ben pick 6, dug a hole the team couldn't climb out of.

Only thing worse than refs who insert themselves on too many plays are sports results conspiracy theorists ;-)

Unless Ben threw a pick 45 o don't think that applies. If you score 42 at home you should win.

Ben was 37/58 469 yards 5 TDs 1 interception that game. You're right though it's on the QB not the coach that's the defensive genius.

Never attribute to malice what can easily be explained by incompetence.

Didn't the Steelers fire their OC after the game, too?

Yes, thankfully.  And Cleveland unfired him, then didn't even make it half a season before they refired him.  He remained fired until the USFL needed coaches who washed out in the NFL.

Oh, now do the Browns game next. Spot them TWO scores before the D gets their shoes on. I'll bet passing stats were great then too, they tend to be against prevent D.

KC is a little closer to your point. They didn't give up points on O. And the D did quite well for the 1st half, got tired of waiting on the O, and scored themselves. Broke down in the 2nd half when it appeared they were the only load-bearing wall.

Hell even the last SB everyone blames Mendenhall, rightly. But that came after a 20 point 1st half hole spearheaded by, you guessed it, another pick 6.

Look, I'm not saying the D isn't culpable, they are. But all the "Defensive genius gives up 40+ per playoff game" is tripe. So is the Tomlin wasted Ben's prime years - absolute rubbish.

That jags game the defense  gave up 4 rushing TDs. They gave up 38 points to a Blake Bortles led Jags team.

Now you do losing to Tim Tebow in a playoff game.

Steelers haven't won a playoff game in 6 years. Also the Steelers as an organization have farked up Pickett's rookie season. The only positive is that finally maybe they'll be in a head space to work on the future instead of holding on to a program that hasn't worked in years.
