She would have had a much better part in Kingdom of the Crystal Skull if Lucas hadn't nixed the Frank Darabont screenplay.

//yes, there was a 4th Indiana Jones movie. Deal with it.

She is adorable. I wish she was in more stuff. She seemed to semi-retire after the early 90s. Did mostly TV appearances.

It's interesting to see the movies she was in during the early stages of her career, though. She was in some pretty huge movies. A few all-time classics. Almost seemed like she was destined to be a major Holllywood actress. I wonder what happened? Did it just not work out, or did she decide it wasn't for her?

I'm willing to bet she didn't want to do the requisite amount of casting couch play it takes to get to that level.
And if that's the case, then good on her!

One of these days, I am going to have to get royally drunk and finally sit down to watch The Quickening. See if the legend of its awfulness is true.

Her not coming back to the immediate sequels to the Indy sequels had to do with George Lucas's stupidity. That's right, the man who put an idiot Gungan on screen told Speilberg to make Indy like James Bond and have a different piece of ass in every film. Of course he also pitched this idea in a story meeting:
Lawrence Kasdan: I like it if they already had a relationship at one point. Because then you don't have to build it.
George Lucas: I was thinking that this old guy could have been his mentor. He could have known this little girl when she was just a kid. Had an affair with her when she was eleven.
Kasdan: And he was forty-two.
Lucas: He hasn't seen her in twelve years. Now she's twenty-two. It's a real strange relationship.
Spielberg: She had better be older than twenty-two.
Lucas:He's thirty-five, and he knew her ten years ago when he was twenty-five and she was only twelve.
Lucas: It would be amusing to make her slightly young at the time.
Spielberg:And promiscuous. She came onto him.
Lucas: Fifteen is right on the edge. I know it's an outrageous idea, but it is interesting. Once she's sixteen or seventeen it's not interesting anymore. But if she was fifteen and he was twenty-five and they actually had an affair the last time they met. And she was madly in love with him and he...
Spielberg:She has pictures of him.

There's two creeps in that room and none of them is Kasdan.

She was so freakin' great in Starman, which is also an extremely under-rated movie, IMO. Love how Charles Martin Smith sticks it to the feds at the end. I bawl my damn eyes out at the end of the film when Jeff Bridges leaves. Why the fark didn't they do a sequel where he comes back to find her and his son??????????

Ted Stryker as Starman?

He's an entirely different kind of actor than Jeff Bridges altogether.

Yeah..but Bridges doing a sequel....as a series? WTF? The movie needed a one-off sequel. It needn't become a freakin' franchise.

Karen Allen is one of my first great loves (with Carrie Fisher, Dawn Wells, duh).  I couldn't wait to go to college so I could meet my Katy, because college was going to be just like Animal House.  Then she was Marion, and oh my god, perfection.

And Tammy Swanson (the mom, Tammy 0, Tammy Prime).  She would win, of course.  Maybe.

I wonder if she still appreciates a man who knows "how to show a girl a good time." But seriously, I don't believe Karen Allen was ever less than smoking hot in anything she did. And she managed to play characters who seemed as beautiful on the inside as the outside. I hope she's living in happy and obscure retirement with her privacy.
