Damn that looks good - bookmarked.

And I love apple cider....preferably mulled with a nip of the Captain.

To be fair, the process will work with a lot of flavors. You can do Key Lime, you can go coffee, or even Chambord if you're feeling all shi shi. For Key Lime, I'd add in the zest with the marshmallows as they melt. You can do Salted Caramel Krispy Treats. Bourbon and Coffee Krispy Treats even. You can forgo the reduction process for Matcha Krispy Treats by adding in your matcha with marshmallow and stir in for an even color. You could even do Chili dusted Dark Chocolate Krispy Treats, with an added layer with using Coffee liquor, and after the treats set, give them a sift of your favorite chili powder.

I don't have a Dutch oven. I really need one of those if I'm to get serious about cooking, huh?

After about 20 minutes the cider will have transformed into a golden caramel sauce with an intense apple aroma that perfumes your house.

And window treatments. And furniture. And clothes. And hair. And it will not go away for days or longer. Hope you like apples, like, a lot.

I mean, I'm still gonna make them. But I'm making the syrup outside.

I have a couple and I prefer the enameled one.  Bare cast iron can make acidic braises taste weird.  Except it might make better bread.

Get an enameled one first, then a plain cast iron if you want to improve yer loaves.  Or do that thing Kenji does with the inverted metal bowl.

My roommate cooks bacon in the oven because she's afraid of smelling like bacon.

Delicious, delicious bacon.

Mmmmmm.....

Making bacon in the oven is just good sense, if you're making more than a couple of strips at a time.

Huh. There's a surprising variety of bacon-scented candles out there.

/low and slow in the skillet
//I like the results better than baked, because I can babysit the slices better

The only time I've felt that the oven was the best option was when cooking for 30+ at boyscouts or for our pancake breakfast fundraiser. Any other time it's a pan or a griddle or flattop because I like to use the tasty grease for cooking the rest of breakfast.

You can save the bacon grease from the oven, too. Jelly roll pan lined with foil, and you've a pound of cooked bacon, 3-4 tablespoons of rendered bacon grease, and an easy clean-up job in about 15 minutes. I save the grease so I can fry hash browns in it. :)

These sound fairly good. I've always found Rice Krispy treats overly sweet and the tartness of the apple cider just might make the difference.

oh no, these are sugar bombs. think marshmallow-creamed cider caramel. BUT so are apple cider doughnuts. for once, i think a "food inspired by a different form of food" recipe looks right on the tasting notes, just new textures.

somebody please make them and share the results with me!

My first thought was to be lazy and use apple butter.

But as they're reducing apple juice, if you have access to appelstroop, that might work even better.  It's the consistency of molasses, as they cook it down until it's very thick.

I love the parchment paper lined baking pan full of bacon, but I have on issue.  All of this delicious bacon is available immediately.  More than once I have downed the whole package.
