Ouch. TFA: convicted dude had the illegal gun.

2022-10-05 6:27:14 AM
The issue isn't that he was defending himself, but that he was using a fully automatic weapon that he was nowhere near licensed for. And given that he ran, he KNEW he was in the wrong on that one.

The headline could use a comma. It reads like the guy was sentenced to jail, because his co-worker shot him with a modified pistol. It was actually the guy who was shot at, who pulled out his own gun which was modified.

Now I'm off to ruin a party!

I did not know you could bump-stock a pistol. I mean, it's probably easier to file the seer to make full auto on most models.

Considering the spray-and-pray "defense," and the high-speed chase, and trying to get rid of the evidence, AND having an illegal "machine gun," I'd think 3 years is pretty lenient. Wonder how they arrived at three counts of assault.

/and c'mon subby, an IHOP employee got shot in the leg

Is illegally modding firearms really worth going to prison over?  I wonder if they were otherwise legally carrying.

not quite the same thing, but the principle of recoil assisted cycling isn't hard to harness

There is no way either of them know how to use a 3D printer.

Can someone explain to me how he defended himself with a 3D printer?  I'm confused.  Did he throw it?  Use it as a shield?  That article is horribly written.

Ringing your finger in the automatic guard isn't the same as a full auto. I think Firearm Jesus hasn't done a tear down on a full auto pistol because he doesn't want to give anyone ideas.

No, no, no. It says right in the article that he used "3D printer parts". Sounds like he modified the gun to squirt hot plastic.

Google "giggle switch".

As I understand it, these are limited to Glock Handguns. Glock actually makes a full auto version of the Glock 19 and the device is just a little reverse engineering.

They've been available online for a while, even Wish has been known to sell them. They were pretty uncommon until a about a year ago and they've very rapidly become a Gan banger's must have fashion accessory.

A physical altercation between ensued (sic) and Dews eventually walked away.

While he was waiting for a friend to pick him up, Jones came outside and fired gunshots at his coworker, the documents claim.

...

Jones initiated the gunfight.  I don't see anything in the article about his arrest, if there was one.  As others have said, Dews wasn't arrested for defending himself, he was arrested for having the modified weapon.

If it fires pistol rounds wouldn't it be a submachine gun?  Also, wouldn't a 20 round magazine make it more difficult to conceal eroding much of the point of a pistol?

In the non law breaking gun community "giggle switch" is the selector switch on a legal full auto

Meh.  Hit ratio is pretty low with full auto.  Let the kids have their fun.
