When my daughter was taking a digital design class, they talked about font selection. I showed her that skit - she got a kick because of both Comic Sans and Papyrus.

/ Got it from a MacFormat cover disc sometime in the 90s
// Back in... 2017..? I had to hunt down the creator of another (shareware) font I'd originally got from the same source at the same time to be able to license it
/// I received a letter thanking me for being the first person to register it, about twenty years after it was created

I love this splattery typewriter ribbon font. Have used it a zillion times in horror-related projects.

I don't notice font about 99% of the time. People talk about fonts as "bold" "classy" "aggressive" or whatever other adjectives are convenient and available. I don't get any of that from a font. TBH, all I really care about in a font is legibility.

I'm surprised Brittanic isn't on that list.  I see that one freakin' everywhere.

And no Cooper Black?  Where's the justice?

That's usually how I approach font, but I absolutely love it when I come across an article or an extended discussion regarding fonts.  I almost never stop to notice fonts, but when I read about things like the history of certain fonts and why some fonts work better than others in different settings, it's so fascinating.

How is comic sans worse than jokerman?

I personally think people get too worked up over Comic sans, it is a perfectly fine font when it is  used appropriately, such as on a kid's birthday party invites.    It is definitely not suitable for business purposes in most cases.

This was my opinion until I bought a book on building 3D printers that's typeset in it. It's like trying to do advanced calculus with the baby shark song blasting in your ear at deafening volume. Possible, but agonizing. I wasn't able to get through more than a few pages before I realized it would be less unpleasant to simply reinvent the entire field from scratch.

When I was bored at work in the 90s, I'd visit all manner of font sites and wrote my work emails in some exotic font. Inevitably I discovered that unless the reader of the email had the same font installed, it would just be displayed in their default font. So, I lost interest. For the record, I really liked the look of Georgia. It seemed like a more relaxed Times New Roman.

It also apparently is a great accessibility font for people with some reading disorders, such as mild dyslexia. Something about how each letter is distinct and spaced apart from the others. (Source: an ex-coworker who not only has a reading disability herself, but also works in the web accessibility space)

General Electric has its own font called GE Inspira. It is used on all official company documents. The font looks like a combo of Calibri and comic sans.

That is a case of it not being the right font for the job.

I use Comic Sans for notes on my schematics.  I think it looks better than Courier.
