One thing we can be certain it will not happen: any good deeds by Republicans.

Thank Gandalf. The amount of conservative yard signs I saw while visiting this summer made me nervous.

2022-10-05 6:50:58 AM
I'm seeing very few conservative yard signs in my conservative area of the state.  At least compared to when Trump ran.  Holy crap the idiots around here made some sign maker a lot of money back then.

shiat, don't even think of celebrating until a week month after they've been sworn in.

This is heartening news. We've got a lot of stupid hicks in this state, particularly in the north. And the west. And the southern border. Hell, anywhere outside of Oakland County is fairly goddamn stupid, now that I think about it.

I've only seen one Dixon lawn sign.  I see a couple, "My governor is an idiot", signs who'll probably vote for Dixon because she is so much brighter.

2022-10-05 6:58:00 AM
Thank goodness Michigan and Pennsylvania look like they're staying sane.  Arizona and Wisconsin are going to be interesting, though. Passing the electoral count reforms will stop Congress from futzing with the count, but it won't stop Govs from just not verifying anything other than their own party winning.

There's also the SCOTUS case about "independent state legislatures" which basically nullifies federal election laws.  Trifecta states could (and will) simply change the winner to whomever they want.  If / when that gets the thumbs up, there's basically no path to D presidential victory if AZ, GA, & WI go GOP trifecta.

So, expect another month of ads asserting that DEMON-CRAPS WANT TO MURDER YOU WITH TAXES AND SODOMIZE YOUR ABORTED BABY WITH A LITTERBOX, then?

Pants full of macaroni!!: So, expect another month of ads asserting that DEMON-CRAPS WANT TO MURDER YOU WITH TAXES AND SODOMIZE YOUR ABORTED BABY WITH A LITTERBOX, then?

Is this happening everywhere?  A GOP scare campaign?

You should see the mailers I get.  Images of terrified kids, police tape, etc. all blaming liberals putting criminals before families for some reason.

It's ridiculous.

Yup, it's the same all over.  Here in Ohio, they are gunning for Emilia Sykes (State Rep now running for OH-13) like you wouldn't believe.  You would think she was worse than ten Megahitlers.

And let's not forget the horrors that will befall our nation should Taxing Tim Ryan somehow get a Senate seat!  (Seriously, his first name is Taxing now.  The GQP has decreed it.)

"70.9% of voters who identify as "strong Republican" have never heard of DePerno."

Doesn't matter what their name is when your only voting strategy is to go straight down the party-line.

Republicans pretty much rely on that behavior.

I personally think all the badass women running my State are doing a great job and encourage them to keep it up. I'll be voting accordingly.

And yes, that ad is real and I'm really unsure if it's bad on purpose to get the "all attention is good attention" factor that Trump used or if it's just really, completely stupid.

I see more Trump flags than I see signs for Vance or DeWine. I just picked up my Ryan and Whaley sign but I need to make sure it's okay to put out. I'd hope so since I know my actual neighbors fly Trump flags here.

It's a good thing I'm not a Michigander or a Republican, because I think I'd laugh to death if I had to vote for someone called "Tudor Dixon".

Good thing she didn't marry Aaron Sedan.

Also, it's it possible to have a more racist sounding name than "Tudor Dixon?" All I can think of is "Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III," really.

I'm in the Detroit area and see very few ads for republicans, it's like they've stopped trying. The republican running for state senator in my district sends out mailers that don't even mention he's a republican and don't  mention the red meat issues that the GOP loves , no mention of abortion or "wokeness" or trans strippers in your kids kindergarten class. The Michigan GOP has completely lost it's mind here and it's obvious.

2022-10-05 8:22:21 AM
I live in a SUPER red area of Michigan and the only yard signs I've seen are for a local guy running for reelection to the state house. That's literally it, and there are only a few of those signs even around.

My guess is the Michigan GOP fundraising has been so lame they can't afford to do any advertising and promotion and the national party isn't sending any money, either. Whitmer is the only one running TV ads!

The Michigan GOP went balls deep in the crazy this time and it's not working out for them.

I got a "pamphlet" against proposal 3 that reads like a manifesto of a psycho. It talks about "can you imagine holding a new born baby and wanting to kill it? It's TRUE! In California they're debating a law that allows babies to be aborted up to one month after birth in case the parents change their minds!"

In a better world there would be huge penalties for being goddamn stupid enough to even believe something like that, similar to all the Republican morons breathlessly repeating their asinine "schools have litterboxes now for kids who identify as cats" fantasy. It's straight up embarrassing.

Everything is bullshiat until you actually farking vote.

Right now, Ron Johnson is ahead in Wisconsin. Beto is behind in Texas. Fetterman and Oz are a tossup. And abortion is fading as an issue for a lot of voters.

We cannot let off the gas one bit.

I heard this one repeated by someone I know who lives in Grand Rapids. Why yes he does work in education, thank you for asking.

Also, I regularly pass a house in the area so papered with Tom Barrett signs that I'm convinced Tom Barrett actually lives there.

It means name recognition, and that means money

I'm just outside of Detroit and I don't see yard signs for anyone. It's like a foregone conclusion that we aren't changing what we have. More important is the Prop 3 vote. We need to codify reproductive rights in this state. And I think it will pass. The sane will outvote the Battle Creek/Grand Rapids cohort.

This is the canary in the coal mine election.  The GOP is running some of the dumbest, most idiotic candidates and, in some cases will win with them (Lake in AZ springs to mind).  But this is just the first step.  Next time they have a game plan and will likely run more 'acceptable' GOP candidates who can hide the crazy but are just as dangerous - like Youngkin.  He ran a semi-moderate (for a republican) campaign and fooled people in to thinking he wasn't a nutbag and then showed his true colors as soon as he won.  It's what Blake Masters tried in AZ but it, probably, won't work against a moderate like Mark Kelly.

At least we'll finally be able to stop pretending America is a democracy. And that the Supreme Court is a legitimate organization.

The Saudis are getting involved now as well by talking about cutting oil production to drive up prices.  Abortion, social security, etc, none of it will matter on Nov 8 if the gas prices are back to record highs.  People stupidly think the president, or the Dems/GOP, can control gas prices in anyway and blame/credit them when prices changes.  It didn't help that gorcery costs went up like 15% last month in the reported numbers.  Those are the things people take in to the booth when they vote and it disproportionately hurts the party in power.

So Michigan is safe but Arizona is a lost cause.
Kari Lake literally said if elected she will have Arizona secede from the US, and the majority of Arizona seems to be OK with this.
She's also insane, which you would think most people wouldn't be OK with, but it's Arizona.

If people actually cared about abortion rights, Hillary would have won in a landslide, and white women wouldn't have favored Trump twice.

Which is crazy when you consider that the national GOP Chair Ronna Romney MeDaniel lives in the metro Detroit area.
