Strangely honest.

Could have just shortened it to "I don't care."

It's honest and evergreen.

Nice of the little Nazi to admit out loud, explicitly, that all their lies about "principles" are lies.

What a principled take from an absolute dingbat.

A person so laughable, the NRA dropped her.

erik-k: Nice of the little Nazi to admit out loud, explicitly, that all their lies about "principles" are lies.

The only principle is power.

'Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?'

I mean, fark'em for wanting to oppress everyone by abusing an unbalanced system, but at least a discussion can now be had without getting bogged down by explaining why he's a terrible candidate to ears that refuse to drop the act of caring about the guy.

Like I said in the other thread:

REPUBLICANS

DO NOT CARE

ABOUT PRINCIPLES.

The ONLY 'principle' they care about is power. Whether acquiring it and wielding it or worshiping those who do. Everything else, all claimed principles and beliefs, are in service of that end.

It's why pointing out their supposed hypocrisy doesn't bother them, because they aren't actually violating their core value: power.

It's why they get so confused and cry "virtue signaling" when someone forgoes seeking or utilizing power because of their principles, or criticizes those who wield power because of their principles-- they cannot conceive of someone actually valuing the principles they espouse more than power, so there must be some other motive behind it!

It's why they're so happy to stand behind someone who humiliated them, insulted their wives and families: he had (and still, in the party, has) the power, so he's In The Right.

All they care about, all they RECOGNIZE, is power.

Indeed, this is, in some ways, why hypocrisy not only doesn't hurt them, but seems to make them moreattractive to their base: Because they have demonstrated that they have the power to make the 'rules' not apply to them. And their base worships power.

If you view them through that lens, every seeming hypocrisy or betrayal of their supposed values over the last several decades makes crystal clear sense: The only thing they EVER actually valued--at least in my life time--was power over other people. However they could achieve it.

Nowadays, the go-to GOP candidates for office are just warmed over B list celebs because Republican politicians aren't their own selves. They are assets for corruption and grift being perpetrated from behind the curtain. Republican voters no longer vote for policy. Their votes are driven by grievance and contempt and candidates on the ballot are just names with an R next to them.

2022-10-05 5:32:47 AM
Should the GOP gain control of any chamber of Congress, they will shut the government down for a very long time.

Vote Blue ... no matter who.

seriously.

2022-10-05 5:50:37 AM
Why is this upsetting to people? We are all "vote blue no matter who", I expect that Republicans have some "vote red or else" type of mentality too.

That's the way this works. It's a game about power; it's not about ethics or policy or any of the other BS politicians claim to care about.

H Walker could have easily won this race if at the beginning of his campaign, he publicly apologized for the abortion and out of wedlock kids. Conservatives would still justify their vote by saying he is a reformed man.

Heck, conservatives voted for Trump twice and Trump cheated on his third wife.

This is something that became clear to me during the election of 2000 and the Bush II years.

The Supreme Court made a highly dubious decision-- so dubious that they even said it couldn't set a precedent-- and everyone was supposed to swallow it or they were a "sore loser." And had the shoe been on the other foot, I have no doubt that the Repubs would've been screaming bloody murder about how Gore had stolen the election and SCOTUS was being partisan. Exactly how they actually reacted after Trump lost fair and square.

It doesn't matter if the Party Line is true or false, so long as it helps you win.

It makes perfect sense for politicians to say anything to get into power. It really doesn't make sense for Republican voters to decide they don't care what a politician does or will do as long as he's a Republican. That's the cult part.

well when you have a plan to remove the voter from the equation and it's being set into action it tends to make one arrogant enough to say the quiet part out loud.  right now they can run anyone as long as they have an R behind the name and will rubberstamp their agenda and get them elected in some states. when these cases are tried in the SCOTUS coming up we will see how far they can get I suppose. the voting rights act could be gone altogether soon. and they could be given a greenlight for their alternate electors plan too.

Well, Republicans vote as a bloc pretty much no matter what. If the dude is an asshole "he's our asshole." Republicans can pay for secret abortions and pop pills and employ illegal immigrants as housekeepers, but they can be counted to vote for crack-downs on abortions and pill-heads and illegal immigrants.

With this in their back pocket, and any other dirt they know about, the RNC know they have Walker's vote no mater what.  Because...

Marcus Aurelius: She wants control of ALL the genitals.

Republicans are scared to death of the idea that the "rabble" actually starts making decisions for themselves.  No, let me correct myself, that the "rabble" start demanding that they be treated the same way as their "betters".

Or just stupid.

The guy is black, has multiple kids with multiple baby mamas, aborted at least one, has a criminal history (because, you know, THOSE PEOPLE), and can't tie his own shoes. If he wasn't running (R) and beloved by the annointed yam from hell, they'd all be looking for a rope and a horizontal pole.

She's got a point - Walker might be completely inept due to debilitating brain injuries and/or complete lack of morals, but if elected he will do as he's told - which is, vote whichever way the Republicans in the Senate tell him. If you're a Republican and don't live in Georgia, he's pretty much ideal.

Now, of course, if you live in Georgia and want someone that will represent you, he's a terrible choice. He won't ever give a f*** about you or your state. But he sure will vote (R) every time.

Try to understand that America will be gone soon too. It is very likely 2024 will be the last national election; there will not be one in 2028 no matter who wins next time.

The states may still exist, but they won't be "united" at least not like they are now.

They have control of the vast majority of state legislatures, are clear favorites to take the House, have a sporting chance to take the Senate because their base doesn't care about things like one of their candidates having, in the rhetoric of the GOP the last 40 years, literally paid to murder a baby, and have had an iron grip on the SCOTUS for a generation and are expected to maintain that grip for another generation.

All on a platform the vast majority of the population disapprove of.

It doesn't say anything about his opponent, because Republican voters do not care in the slightest what a non-Republican does.
