The only way it works is if they spin out into left field again. Frasier wasn't anything like Cheers. This can't be anything like Frasier. Even then, it's on Paramount+. I doubt it's going to last more than a season.

The obvious spinoff would center around Frasier's son Frederick and Roz's daughter Alice as they navigate their 30s, with Frasier and Cheers characters making guest appearances.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for a new show altogether. Frasier was a spinoff itself, which is why I think it was so successful. This is technically a sequel series, which is why it probably won't work.

I don't care, and I say this as someone who genuinely enjoyed the Frasier spin-off.

I'm not sure what it would take to get me to sub to Paramount+ but this isn't it.

I liked everything about that show except Kelsey Grammer. That guy couldn't pay me enough to toss my salad with scrambled eggs.

At least they kicked him out of Seattle.

My guess for locale: some island in a Trump-humping state, like maybe Austin.

At first I couldn't remember if this Fraiser character was from Star Wars or the MCU, but then I saw this is on Paramount+, so he had to be from Star Trek.

Bebe Neuwirth can be whichever one she wants; she's one of those people who will *always* be gorgeous.
not to ill-wish these new writers, but the dialog was the whole point of Frasier. idk what kind of vibe they dwell in at Paramount+, but sadly i get a foreboding "Last Man Standing" feeling from Kelsey Grammer anymore. like a "let a wise ol' man tell you how it -ought- to be!" kind of thing. no farking thank you
DHP is still cool tho ;)

He's not just right-leaning, he's not just Republican, he's pro-Trump.  Not a hope I'd help put a penny in his pocket by watching this.

If you support Trump at this point - and honestly for many, many years now - you're just an evil son of a biatch.

Frasier was the worst character on Frasier.

I loved the original show, and honestly? I'll give this new one a shot.
But David Hyde Pierce and Bebe Neuwirth were the real powerhouses. And I agree with what was also mentioned above, I think this is going to veer heavily into Last Man Standing territory.

I really liked Frasier. It had some laugh out loud stuff until that last season where you could tell they'd given up.
That said, you're about 7 years too late.
I can only suppose he's going to do a podcast which will be nothing like an actual podcast and will suddenly be the #1 podcast in the country while his assistants do crazy things he can't stand.

Depends on where they go with this. He's in a new city. Maybe in the interim he became a raging alcoholic or pain pill addict just coming off of rock bottom. Something dark that lends to comedy.

In two years we're watching The Cranes which focuses instead on the characters we really care about?  I can get behind that.

You start it off as a light comedy, even aping some of the previous shows plots, and then there is a murder.  police turn to frasier to try and figure out the mentality of this murder, and others across the country of similar styles.

Of course the murderer ends up being niles, tired of being second fiddle he is determined to be the greatest serial killer of all time.

One of the very few episodes of The Simpsons that I've watched.  I liked the homage to the title cards used on Frasier.

I have Paramount+ Only because it came free with my phone plan. I also have Netflix, Prime Hulu and Apple+  Got that for someone in the family having an Apple phone.

Don't really watch as much as I should, Usually watch Freevee and Tubi and Hulu. This week I am turning off Spectrum as we now have a local fiber internet.

Lots of options out there if you look.

Not if they stick with the character. Frasier the character isn't Kelsey Grammer. In fact, the most likely Trump supporter of the original show would have been Martin Crane. He was a retired cop, hated the effete, cosmopolitan worldviews of his sons, and wanted to watch old TV shows all the time that glorified the good old days.

Frasier the character was an irritant. He was the grain of sand in the oyster. He couldn't let any perceived slight go unanswered. He was self centered, and considered himself better and smarter than those around him. And he wasn't a particularly liberal or empathetic character. Twenty years older Frasier could easily become the older wealthy person looking down on Millennial and Gen Z and 'women was.'

He could, but I wouldn't see him as an everyman character like "Last Man Standing" - I'd see him more of an overbearing obnoxious rich prick in the vein of Lucille Bluth.
