This sounds like a cartel of sports bar owners bribed somebody to create an artificial monopoly.

/that said, the French might ban the telecasts b/c they might show women wearing hijabs

I suppose while we're all carrying on as if the bribery and the corruption never happened, we'll also all carry on as if the many human rights violations never happened either.

There's no getting around it, this whole thing is really unfortunate.  I'm sure I'll get roped into watching some of it but this isn't the usual enjoyable experience.

I guess Palestinians are boycotting it - not really, but I guess they won't be there.
