It's a travesty that these people are getting off scot-free, but I didn't know that a one-man grand jury was even a thing.  That just seems....problematic.

Yeah, reading the linked article, it seems Michigan law allows a judge to serve as a grand jury. That seems even more problematic as it blurs the already thin line between prosecutors and the judiciary.

Shame, I was hoping to land one of those swee, one-man grand jury gigs myself.  More people need to rueing the day lately.

Stud Gerbil: did anyone even rtfa?   anyone?   fark, I am disappoint.

I did. At least one other did too.

I think the Judge made the right call here. Due process appears to not have been followed, and any verdict would have been rendered useless, nuking all evidence associated with that case. This is actually better, since the evidence against them isn't tainted and Double Jeopardy doesn't look like it will apply.

kind of the "justice" system to intentionally fumble here in order to give the vermin more time to mount their defenses

Yeah--dismissed **without** prejudice.  That means new charges could be filed in the future.  The judge simply said you didn't follow the procedures, start over.

(And how much of this is actual malfeasance vs being starved of the funds to do it right?)

LOL.

At best, Americans are now "taxpayers" or "consumers."

There have always been waaaay too many Americans who'd rather lose everything than share anything.

Once black and female people started making real strides toward full citizenship, women-hating white racists decided it was better to destroy the meaning of citizenship than to share it.

Yup. I'm sure the prosecutor will get right on filing those charges again. Any day now, any day...

If would be amazing if they put him in a cell with Hillary. I know they don't mix genders and all that, but I still think that would be epic.

Though I think one of them would be dead by the first morning.

/probably not Hillary.

Republican judge dismissing charges against a former Republican governor after said former governor's actions poisoned the water supply of a city that's primarily non-white?

Those decisions are just terrible.   I hope civil trials are taken pro bono to wipe these people off the political landscape and so far into debt their great-great-grandchildren feel it.

Given that this dismissal has been 9 years in the making, we have another 7 years of Democrats edging themselves over Trump's prosecution before finally being forced to admit that this is America and ANGH.

Sure throw all the war criminals away, the comment was about trump and his insurrection though. Libs and cons rarely give a fark about the war criminal shiat tho, because non Americans aren't people.

A 1 person grand jury?  Seriously how did they not think that would cause issues done the line?

The people in question need to be held accountable but this was a fark up that just made it a heck of alot harder to do so.

It's too bad that it's the bigoted, misogynistic incels that are the ones that want civil war and fundamentally change how we live

Liberals are content to whine and cry and doing fark all while pretending that voting and protesting actually accomplishes anything in a hopelessly broken, corrupt and racist system

I'm not saying I'd do it.

I'm not saying anyone should do it.  It's wrong.

But jurisprudence like this is exactly how and why you get car bombings.  Just sayin'.  Denying justice protects the guilty only so long.  Eventually, someone decides otherwise, whether it's right or not, whether we like it or not.

FTFA: Because the one-person grand jury does not have the power to issue indictments, the indictments issued in the felony Flint water cases were void ab initio. Therefore, anything arising out of the invalid indictments are irreconcilably tainted from inception," Kelly wrote in her six-page decision.

Almost like someone planned it that way.

It's "wrong" to damage property in furtherance of achieving actual justice?

Oh, I beg to disagree.

When an unjust, ineffective, unaccountable government takes pains to ensure that rioting and violence become the only available means to restore justice, equity, and accountability, then it can scarcely be gainsaid that government is effectively DEMANDING the people resort to rioting and violence.

But admittedly I have about as dim a view of that "turn the other cheek" nonsense as most self-styled Christians.

These assholes chose to poison children to save $5, and the courts let them. They should count themselves lucky if all that costs them is a few asploded cars.
