"They tampered with nature.  Now nature tampers back!"  Machetree!  Coming soon!

Well, at least those eggheads used their time for something worthwhile, instead of wasting it on silly crap like a dog language translator, or curing cancer.

Having programmed motion control software for robots in the past... there's a lot of filtering and limits preventing that blade from impacting the arm or the plant. Guaranteed.

I think it would be fascinating if the machete was turned on the plant and started cutting off stems and leaves...what would that imply?

Think about it.

Even Jello shows "brainwaves" so this is nothing more than creative input manipulation.

Should be a lot.

At least in commercial applications where X Y or Z failures could result in lawsuits.

"Mission accomplished, now, switch off."
[*swipe*]
"No, you switch it off."
"Why did we put the off switch under the plant?"

Arm two of them and have them fight each other. PLANTLEBOTS!

Actually that would be an AWESOME game.

Battlebots, but not remote controlled. You get a pot-plant each and have to rig the controls up to it. The pot plant sits on top of the robot.

Well yeah, but Jello prefers the finer nuances of a rapier and would much prefer to not use something as crude as a machete.

I can't even tell - what the hell are they pretending is happening here? With that out of the way, what IS happening?

It looks like a bunch of algorithm coding geeks snickering to each other "watch this".

yeah what control exactly is the plant exerting? just looks like random, spastic movements.  i'm more than a bit suspicious it's just reacting to stray electronic noise or small fluctuations in conductivity in the leaves due to the movement of water and nutrients.
