Luckily he was literally terrified. Figurative terror is so much harder to manage.

Wow, that's way worse than being figuratively terrified!

As the day continued, the family - who lives in a one-story home - saw the waters rising and had to decide whether to ride out the storm inside their house or venture outside, where they knew there was something that could be a shark waiting.

The SyFy Channel and Amazon Prime immediately start a bidding war not just for the story, but this specific ready-made tagline sentence from the article.

I am not an ichthyologist, but I've seen enough shark pictures to know that's not a bull shark just from the dorsal. I thought Nurse shark when I saw it. (I did not know that Nurse and Sand Tiger are the same species)

Biologists George A. Llano and Richard Ellis suggest that a bull shark could have been responsible for the fatal Jersey Shore attacks. Bull sharks swim from the ocean into freshwater rivers and streams and have attacked people around the world. In his book Sharks: Attacks on Man (1975),

"I was literally terrified," Dominic Cameratta's daughter Ella tells PEOPLE of the possible shark sighting in a neighbor's backyard in Fort Myers, Florida.

Why? Humans have this pretty amazing defense against sharks that works like 99.9% of the time*: don't go in the water.

* Landsharks excluded

Bull sharks are the worst. They are hit and run feeders, so they attack and rip off as much meat as they can. Victims usually bleed out.
This one was caught in the same wading spots that I used to frequent.
Used to.
https://www.espn.com/outdoors/fishing/news/story?id=2900688

We were in that channel one Fall day, chasing redfish. We had live croaker in the bait well. The day was getting late, and we were getting low on bait.
I waded over to the boat and was dismayed to see that there were 2 croaker left. One was dead, and the other one was huge.
I hooked on big boy and shuffled back to my spot. You shuffle so that you don't step on the stingrays.
I was working a nice grass line, there was sand, then grass. Good looking cover for bait, open area for predators.
I chunked big boy out perfectly, set the drag, then BOOM......ZZZZZZZZZZ.
I am getting spooled by something big.
I've got about 200 ft of 10 pound test with a 20 pound mono leader, so I don't have a lot to work with. If it's a bull redfish, I might be able to turn her.
I put a little pressure on my screaming line, and it went ..*doink*.
So I wrapped my finger around my now empty line and reel it back in.
The last 4 feet of line was abraded, as if by sandpaper. So I told my buddies I got spooled by a shark. They were skeptical.
The next day, we go surf fishing with a famous local guide, and they asked him, Capt. Billy, how are the sharks in the surf? He said, "Terrible, they're all back in the bays".
I was insufferably smug for the rest of the day.

The eternal breadtuber: he thinks that people making new housing are "leeches" and probably also thinks housing would cost less if people stopped building it.

It's because there are plenty of mixed breeds in shelters and foster care that also have the health benefits of not being purebred, but these folks are much more interested in accumulating perceived status symbols.

/you don't have to read this, but I felt like typing it out
//I live in WI, but about a month ago I adopted a dog originally found on streets in OK; she was found at about four months, and has been in foster in WI for while, she is about a year old.  She is definitely part pit bull, but is also coonhound/shorthair pointer, something that made her a bit taller and lankier.  Sorry for threadjacking, but I can't say enough about her.  Her energy level is challenging, so I walk with her twice a day about two miles each.  On walks, she simply doesn't care about other dogs or people, to the point of almost being rudely dismissive.  It is all about squirrel and bunny patrol for her.  I got a compliment from a fellow dog walker a couple days ago for how well behaved she was when encountering another dog; I just shrugged and said, yeah, she is, but it wasn't through my efforts.  Sometimes, when I have a conversation with one of my kids, she starts barking at us out of jealousy, and it looks like dangerous terror.  When you realize that is just her voice and she is actually just a teenage brat, you can get past it pretty quick, cuz she means no harm at all, she just wants to be included.  She also likes to cuddle as only a sixty pound lapdog can do.  By the way, her name is Gwen.
