Holy shiite

You go girls

/Honestly thought the Ayatollah hasn't released the hounds yet on the protests
//It'd be ironic if this regime met the same fate as the one they took power from

Good for them. They will be disappeared before I finish typing this sentence.

I'm hopeful for change but I worry for their safety. This has been going on for a good amount of time but the regime is notable for its ability to bite back.

Death to the dictators. All of them. It's easy for me to say that. Maybe not easy for them.

Murdering all of those women would be inconvenient even for the government of Iran.

2022-10-04 9:57:07 AM
The thing about authoritarian regimes is that they can't be everywhere at once...and if the protests gather momentum, security forces might begin to recalibrate.

Fighting evil by moonlight; burning hijabs by daylight. Never running from a real fight. They are the Iran Schoolgirls.

This will surely end in a principled and civilized discussion about improving the state of Iranian society.

2022-10-04 9:58:25 AM
Well, that's a good start. How will this be met? Open dialog and the addressing of valid criticisms of the government, or violent bloody reprisal. Let's watch.

Especially considering the easiest way to piss off an Iranian man is to rough up one of his daughters. In my experience, only Italians and Puerto Ricans are slower to cancel your existence over that kind of shiat.

We have protests going on here in Boston, and the ladies are very scared.  Apparently the "Morality Police" have a very long arm.  The police are also going after families of protesters that are not currently on Iran soil, and canceling passports/visa for those that are outside the country.
(One Boston protested said, no concrete citation of proof, and I cannot find anything on Google.)

Thats the gameplan. Looks like they're taking a page out of the Civil Rights Era -- not that Bull Connor, et al, had any compunction about committing violence against kids.

I can't see Iran being able to do much to anyone outside of Iran. The cost and attrition rate of "morality police" like that in the US would be... above average.

The brass required to stand up and do this, knowing that protestors are being gunned down in the street for doing the same is astounding.

I think they know, they can either live in oppression or fight, and possibly die, to overthrow this tyranny. Thing is, the extremists seem happy to do just that. One part of it, is, at what point have they killed enough of people's mothers and sisters that they start to question things.

/Oh yeah, and the Christofascists want this for America, just need to throw that in there

Apologies, I phrased that incorrectly. According to the protester, it's their families that are still in Iran that are being subjected to the Morality Police crap.  And for those outside of Iran, they are canceling passports/visas, thereby not allowing them back into the country.

And the honor killings? Those brave protective men would murder their own daughters if their preachers accused their daughters of, well, anything. That kind of machismo, chauvinistic bullshiat isn't as cool as you think it is

All the Iranian gov had to do was punish the aholes that killed the girl in detention. The morality police is a *police*
They detained the girl for breaking the law (a stupid law) but then went on to likely break the law themselves by killing her. These people aren't just protesting the unfair law but also that the people in charge of enforcing it have been placed above the law.

A lot of steam would had been taken right out of this movement by merely deciding that the price to oppress women is to have the morality police be held accountable. But these farks want it all... to oppress women under the guise of law and to be granted immunity from laws for themselves.

Wow!!!
School girls without their hijabs confront and chase off a director of education.
They chant "Bisharaf!" towards the end which is a harsh insult in Persian meaning dishonorable and unethical.
 @yashar - 10/3/22

Tweet includes video of girls chasing the director and throwing what looks like bottles at him.

I'm really worried about the safety of these very brave girls. Rooting for them.

Ah that makes sense, yeah, that is a pretty common response for this for more authoritarian countries.

I'm a Farkette, the head/body covering is so stupid. It cedes too much power to males, controlling female's ability to be themselves. Which, it seems for men to be still really, really hard to deal with.
Otherwise, these young ladies are pretty much toast. What can't be easily detailed are all of the tribal loyalties, who sides with who, what tiny schisms between various factions are being expressed. This is an obvious showing of discontent, but the finer details could speak volumes about what is really going on. It's a tribally/religiously run region and brutal silencing is the norm.

Young girls who are future of their country are telling old dried up men who can't get it up anymore to go fark themselves.

I wish them all the success and hope that inspires young girls and women to do the same in US red states.

There are some ways, people can download apps or webpages that allow for signal boosting so people sending messages can piggyback off your network. I don't trust that shiat on my PCs, but, if they're genuine and you've got a machine or network you don't mind putting at risk, that would be one way.

Yeah it is hard to say how widespread it is.  If it's not enough, they will just consider some schools acceptable losses and mow them down and the ones that haven't joined in yet will just be quiet.
